Gears of War: Judgement

Recommended Posts

I am really enjoying this game right now, currently a bit over halfway through the campaign along with 3 or 4 rounds of survival multiplayer under my belt. Really enjoying the game, story, graphics and gameplay - improvement upon the others, and this is not a franchise I am too into - mainly rent for achievements but overall a lot of fun. I will edit with an overall decision on the game (hard not to type "judgement" for a pun :p ) once I complete the single player campaign.

Cool side notes for me also: weather conditions in some missions/levels and do the classified/declassified parts of missions, well worth the added fun

Anyone else played it yet? Thoughts?

Really torn on buying this, I want to but something is telling me it isn't going to be as good as the others but it does sound like there are some interesting changes in the game.

I completed the game the other week on easy (my wife reviews games for the newspaper so we got it early!) and loved every minute of it. Felt like new life had been breathed into it, especially with the use of modifiers such as weather conditions etc. You could see how stale the original game had become (although I still love it) when playing through the Aftermath sections that had no modifiers.

Got Bioshock Infinite today, so I'll be spending a bit of time on that, but I'll definitely be going back to GoWJ to play it on the harder levels :)

got it yesterday and played it a bit.

Ill say this first it does feel like a big DLC pack, GOW3 felt very smooth and more of a complete game, this currently feels like a set of missions stuck together. However this isn't bad thing, i loved GOW and more missions set in the universe is a good thing. I know some people like a series to push in new directions, im one of those that if ive found something i like, i want to play small iterations of it. i.e. Fallout 3 DLC was a good example of this.

I think it's a good/solid game, perhaps not game of the year but good none the less.

Worst Gears of War game ever, they ruined the franchise and this should not be allowed to be called Gears of War.

sadly i have to agree i have to force myself to finish the game ... and multi play ... NOT going there :(

I'm not sure whether to get this game or not. I've heard many good things about it from friends, but at the same time, I've heard a lot of bad things from others as well. Might just wait until it drops a bit in price.

I havent touched the story yet but I have been playing a fair bit of Over Run and Survival. I am enjoying the new game modes but haven't really played much else.

It doesnt feel as smooth as the others and it almost seems like graphically it has slipped but i have enjoyed what I have played so far.

No idea why people hate this so much. It doesn't have the emotional impact of the second and third, but the campaign is awesome, very addictive and adds a lot to the backstory. The writing is also witty as hell, and visually its a very appealing game.

Have to say its also the best MP in the series yet. More balanced, great maps, hilarious quips. Only the gnashers being so overpowered is still a problem.

Gnashers are not over-powered they have been nerfed beyond belief, the game is full of lancer ###### - it is stupidly unbalanced. And the Y button weapon change with only one primary weapon is so annoying, as is getting tagged by someone throwing a grenade onto you.

Not over powered? Up close they gib you with one shot, how much more do you need? And why using a lancer isn't ok? I can see your point regarding the control scheme, took me a while to get used to it as well.
