If there’s one thing the Gears of War series is not known for, it’s its women. With butt-ugly locusts and muscle-bound marines around every corner of Jacinto, the potential for some good female cosplay in the series is slim to none. Thankfully, one cosplayer proves everybody wrong with her spot-on rendition of the COG soldier Anya Stroud.
As a longtime fan of the series, Crystal Dynamics’ Community & Coordination Manager Meagan Marie was deadest on making a costume for Any Stroud the moment she saw an image of her donning the COG armor. Everything from the armor to the corsets was made from scratch, and she even received help from series creator Cliff Bleszinski himself.
The entire project cost her over $1000, but her work did not go unrecognized. With features on CNN, Entertainment Weekly, Destructoid, and Kotaku, her cosplay garnered widespread appeal.
You can find more of Marie’s cosplay on her official Website here.
