Hum
A Pennsylvania high school is asking its students to stop using Axe Body Spray after one was hospitalized with an apparent allergic reaction to the scented aerosol deodorant. An official at Freedom High School in Bethlehem posted an alert on the school's website on Tuesday notifying parents, faculty and students of the request: The purpose of this posting is to make all parents, staff and students aware of a medical issue involving a Freedom High School student having an extreme allergy to Axe Body Spray. This allergy is potentially life-threatening for this student. Most recently this student has been transported to the hospital by ambulance for emergency medical treatment due to this student being exposed to Axe Body Spray while attending school. My request to all Freedom Family members is that we take into consideration this student?s allergy to Axe Body Spray and refrain from using it as your cologne or fragrance of choice while attending Freedom High School. On behalf of this student?s family and myself, thank you for your consideration. The student's condition, or what specifically caused the allergy, was not immediately known. more

Hum
Sad if this leads to Axe-bans because of 1 goofball.
techbeck
Axe isnt the problem, its the amount of it that people put on. Ever get on an elevator after a woman, who bathed herself with perfume, gets off? Dumb to ban something for one person. Ban all scents, deodorants, perfumes, colognes...everything then. I know I am sensitive to most perfumes and cleaning products. I will get a really bad headache if I smell to much. remixedcat, Hum and ClassicTrekker 3 Share

This state gets more stupid by the day. common sense dictates figuring out an alternative. Big brother on the prowl... Hum 1 Share

How is that student a goofball? Tuff stuff. He should be home schooled, or otherwise removed from normal people. Peanuts, milk, etc. are not removed because of a precious few. Everyone else should not have to suffer because of one goofball. fusi0n 1 Share

I remember high-school locker rooms before this kind of thing was commonly used, Id rather smell an overdose of fragrance than the odors produced by teens after phys ed. class Ive actually seen some schools ban peanuts due to students with allergic reactions, not sure how I feel about it, it is a more common allergy, so its probably several people affected, but at the same time, accidental exposure is probably pretty small since they are aware of their own limitations. compl3x
Peanuts, milk, etc. are not removed because of a precious few. Everyone else should not have to suffer because of one goofball. Many schools do ban things like peanuts because of allergies. Considering that it is a small issue which could avoid a potentially fatal reaction, I would argue it is a very small price to pay. I don't know how someone is a "goofball" because they have an allergic reaction. They're not doing it by choice. Stop being callous. The "goofballs" are the ones who bathe in this **** to the point it gives everyone in a 2 mile radius a headache and watery eyes. A small spray under you arms is entirely enough to mask body odour. chrisj1968
back in the day, people would go to a doctor to single out the allergy and then deal with it. this is purely a police state mentality by banning a product. screw common sense, let's just ban everything! how far will you allow society to push you before YOU say enough? there is a "common sense" area and I do believe in reason. why doesn't the kids family take other matters into their hands about therapies to work around or suppress their kids allergies? [sarcasm] Gee honey, little billy has an Axe allergy, Let's ban Axe in society for our little angel.[/sarcasm]
compl3x
You can't magically cure allergies. Some can be managed, but that usually involves removing the source of the reaction.
