Ford apologizes for art depicting tied-up women

Recommended Posts

Ford and ad agency WPP apologized on Monday for offensive artwork depicting women tied up in the back of a Ford Figo, a car available in India.

The cartoonish drawings were never part of a paid campaign but were part of "a creative exercise by a team that was submitting for an ad competition," according to Chris Preuss, Ford (F, Fortune 500) spokesman for WPP. "They were actually posters uploaded to a website, which is where it all took off from."

"We deeply regret this incident and agree with our agency partners that it should have never happened," said Ford, in a prepared statement. "The posters are contrary to the standards of professionalism and decency within Ford and our agency partners."

WPP also released a statement saying that it "deeply regret" the existence of the "distasteful" posters.

Is it just me or does the guy in the picture look like Silvio Berlusconi? Maybe it's supposed to be him, then the women tied up in the boot would make sense; bunga bunga. :p

It is supposed to be him. I don't know why Hum selectively edits the things he posts. From original article:

"They were actually posters uploaded to a website, which is where it all took off from."

One of the images depicts Silvio Berlusconi, former prime minister of Italy and a candidate in the current campaign, driving a Ford Figo with three tied-up women in the back.

It's a frigging cartoon. So the reaction to this whole thing appears to be a hyperbole and it's rather hypocritical too. One just needs to remember the outrage the Muslim reaction to the cartoons caused.

As for the women, maybe they want to be tied up in the back of Berlusconi's car? I see no reason to assume they are being forced to do it. However, this doesn't stop the femi-nazi censorship.

And what I think really happened is a threatening call from Berlusconi's attorneys.

The real pic has Paris Hilton in the front seat, not a guy.

... No, there is another image of Paris and with Kardashians tied up in the back.

Another image depicts Paris Hilton driving a Figo with what's meant to be the threeKardashian sisters tied up in the back. A third image shows three male race-car drivers tied up in the back.
