Kidnapped teen saves herself

A teenager who was being forced to drive by a kidnapper managed to save herself by intentionally crashing the car into a police vehicle.

PressofAtlanticCity.com says that 45-year-old Floribert Nava was arrested and charged with kidnapping following the crash in Wildwood, N.J.

The kidnapping appears to be the result of an argument over the adoption of a newborn baby. NBC Philadelphia reports that Nava allegedly forced the teen into a car with a handgun and was planning to make her drive to Philadelphia, where the baby's adoptive parents were located.

On their way out of Wildwood, the teen saw a police car parked on the shoulder of the Ben Franklin Bridge, with the officer helping another driver. The teen crashed the car into the police cruiser of Officer Mark Pawloski of the Delaware River Port Authority. Nobody was injured in the collision. Police found an "airsoft" handgun, duct tape, trash bags, and latex gloves in the car.

After police conducted interviews, they placed Nava under arrest. She is being held on $400,000 bond.

Cape May County Prosecutor Robert Taylor praised the teen's quick thinking. "I don't know if it saved her life," he told NBC Philadelphia. "But it certainly was a smart move by the victim to get the attention of the police officer by basically side-swiping his vehicle."

Of course, but at least you are in control. For an act that is supposed to take that control away, people do some dumb things upon even dumber things :p But if I was in a situation like that, I would make the kidnapper regret his choice.

I suppose, but if you're both dead that I don't see the logic in it. Usually when someone threatens someone's life, they don't care if they live either.

I suppose, but if you're both dead that I don't see the logic in it. Usually when someone threatens someone's life, they don't care if they live either.

That's if the kidnapper is smart enough to put his seatbelt on, he will be heading out the windshield otherwise. Like in the movie Turner and Hooch.
