Don't worry guys, BF4 will definitively run on Windows 8. This alpha probably doesn't for technical reasons, as in, not yet made to work in W8. Remember, the game is still being developed.

I think BF2 was the last one i really played, i just haven't gotten into this style of game for a while, as i do not care for the online experience and the story is so very short.

You did say it wouldn't tank sales, and I was telling you why it would.  You indeed didn't say anything about what they would do.

I see I am among the incredibly easily amused.

Technically there wouldn't be anything to tank since it wouldn't be available in the first place in your hypothetical scenario. I didn't say anything about W8 availability because I thought it is obvious. That and people saying it will be supported every few minutes.

The steam survey is not what I asked for. It does not contain any proof "that high end gamers would be more likely to be on or move to the newer OSes". It contains the stats of all the gamers that have happened to take the survey, from low end laptops with IGPs to high end systems with 3xTitans. If you find a way to separate the high end with W7/8 from the rest, I will concede that point. If not, let's a agree to disagree and move on.

It is not a straight answer, no, but it is weighted towards high end gamers since it's been the platform of choice for FPSes and many other AAA games for a long time.

Damn. I didn't know they paid attention to the way trees move in the wind and waves move in the ocean.

So, a few pages back I saw people saying they got an invite for the Alpha; may I ask... how?

New video showing the new frostbite engine.

people who say they acn't see a difference obviously havent played bf3 much.

Yeah, at times the graphics look very close to BF3, but watching that video there are definitely some huge improvements across the board.

I'd like to point out it was a development, literately unoptimized, build of the game. They even said as much when people were invited to the alpha. It didn't even have most of its textures.

I hope this aint true

It hasn't been optimized yet. It should be much better once the game is released.

Hey Blank, this is a very well done thread.

The info, youtube videos and screenshots on the original post.

Very informative and gives heaps of details and gameplay footage of the game.

Can you do more of these for other new games coming out on the PS4 and XB One please?

Who cares about the music? It's not like that's part of the game. That trailer looked bloody epic though! Can't wait to play BF4 because I'm kinda bored of BF3 right now.

That's just your opinion. I thought the music was great.

And that's just your opinion, I think the music is ****... what's your point?

As for money milking premium, I don't want to see lazy copy and pasted maps from BF3 (Metro crap again), I would rather a BF2 Chinese? map pack - Dragon Valley, FuShe Pass, Daqing Oilfields and Great Wall.

One can only dream, unfortunately these maps don't fit this franchise anymore. Well, maybe Great Wall.
