AWS I/O Rate

Recommended Posts

this may not be the right section but I couldn't find the right one...

I am looking at this pricing page

https://aws.amazon.com/rds/mysql/#pricing

at the bottom of the page they talk about database storage prices. I am having a little trouble understanding these rates and predicting my needs.

Under provisioned IOPS storage

Storage Rate: .125 gb/mo <-- simple enough, it's how much storage space the server has

Provisioned IOPS Rate: .1 per IOPS/mo <-- what is this? no idea what IOPS means, I read the wiki....

Under standard storage

Storage Rate: .1gb/mo <-- easy enough

I/O Rate: .1 per 1 million requests <-- what? I am confused again

Can someone please do a little explaining for me thanks,
