Download all videos from youtube playlist?

Question

I've seen a few programs that let you download all videos on a youtube playlist, the problem is they just name files by the title on youtube, I am trying to watch a daily vlog but if I use the downloaders it will place all the files alphabetically and I lose the chronological order.

Are there any Youtube downloading programs that support downloading playlists but also appending files with the upload date or an incremental number automatically?

downloading any youtube video is actually illegal just saying.

In the EULA for Youtube (even if you do not have an account you are bound to these by viewing a video)

  • You agree not to circumvent, disable or otherwise interfere with security-related features of the Service or features that prevent or restrict use or copying of any Content or enforce limitations on use of the Service or the Content therein.

That's nice. The creator of the videos authorises people to download his work. His work isn't copyrighted so I'm not circumventing, illegally distributing, illegally watching, etc.. etc.. anything. I'm not downloading music or music videos, nothing in his videos is copyrighted either, they contain no songs, etc.. so I'm not infringing on copyrights either.

Actually the work is copyrighted regardless of if the creator authorizes you to download it or not. If it wasn't, he wouldn't have to authorize it. Anything any human, and in some cases nature, has every created, is copyrighted. Even the stuff that the creator has given up. That just makes it public domain which is a copyright stating that nobody else can copyright it anymore because everyone now has rights to it. That being said, as you said, the owner allows it so it is not illegal.

Fair enough.

Also thanks Copernic, I tried 4k Video Downloader but it just creates the video from the title so I have all the videos out of chronological order.

Found a command line tool "youtube-dl" lets me download a playlist and appends an auto incremental number for each video it downloads, can't deselect videos or resume so will just have to let it run.

Thanks all.
