Powerball winner owes child support

Looks like some of his winnings are going bye bye.

PASSAIC, N.J., March 28 (UPI) -- Pedro Quezada, who had a $338 million Powerball lottery ticket, owes $29,000 in child support payments, Passaic County, N.J., Sheriff Richard Berdnik said.

Quezada, 44, claimed his winnings in Trenton, N.J., Tuesday, and on Wednesday sheriffs deputies visited his Passaic apartment to notify him of the child support issue dating back to 2009, the Hackensack, N.J., Record reported Thursday.

"Because of Mr. Quezada's large winnings, generally the New Jersey Division of Lottery would satisfy the judgment before all of the winnings are released," said Berdnik in an email. "Until this warrant is satisfied, Mr. Quezada is subject to potential arrest."

Quezada has five children, ranging in age from five to 23, the newspaper said.

Even though he currently owes $29 thousand, he may owe a lot more as lottery winnings are considered income and the mother of those kids will be entitled to a good chunk of that money.

With the amount of money he'll have he could just make a lump sum offer to his ex and the kids. Heck even set up trusts for the children.
