Bill Gates Aspergers Question

Recommended Posts

Does anyone else agree that Bill Gates has aspergers disorder, aka geek syndrome? I read that he was not a normal child growing up. Aspergers has symptoms where someone becomes deeply interested in something, and odd social interactions etc . A person with asperger appear and are usually normal and range from high functioning to lower functioning. Bill Gates does have sightly odd gestures (way he uses his hands when talking) and talks slightly monotone as well. Gates does also lack some emotion while talking . I even think Dr. House on House MD has it. It said in articles, people with the disorder appear rude, egoistic and cold. Bill Gates is extremely, extremely smart and he is obviously in the high functioning range of the syndrome! I have read articles that say Bill Gates does has it. People with aspergers pick up social skills later on, marry and have children like Gates has. I think if Bill Gates officially does have the syndrome, it has undoubtedly blessed him with super intelligence leading to the creation of Windows!

And that makes a difference to what Bill Gates has accomplished so far or is working to accomplish today?

I do not care anymore about putting people into boxes based on artificial criterias: he is Bill Gates and that is largely good enough for me.

I love how in our modern-day society, if someone comes across as being more intelligent than usual people start looking for "the disease." There are too many labels these days, once upon a time being clever was just called that.

Really, I am not putting anyone down and not labeling him. He fits all the symptoms of the syndrome, and he's is super intelligent. It is a good thing that if he officially does have it, and not a bad thing. I really dislike how people turn something good into something bad. There are numerous credible articles that say that say he possibly has it.

It's useless to know if anyone has asper-what syndrome, or ADHD, or whatever. People with "normal" behavior are usually mediocre on most tasks, so why bother if he is happy and successful?

Psychiatry has names for *EVERYTHING*, even Creationism has a name, but those names don't make it anything more important than what they actually are. Some things have names and what they really are is... nothing.

I wonder why this is a disorder? Because he is not like the 99% with low IQs and lack of self-control? He is calm and monotone. Those are his personal characteristics. Why should that be a disorder? He's not a psychopath... Now THAT is an incurable disorder.

People with Aspergers are not all psychopaths, and all do not have low IQs and low self esteem! You should do some research before saying something so absurd like that! Talk about having intelligence, you clearly do not!

There's nothing intelligent to be said about this. What's ridiculous (note the correct spelling) is even for a second believing it's logical to proxy-diagnose someone with some disorder. A more pressing question is why do you feel the need to do diagnose Bill Gates by proxy? It's disrespectful and pointless.

Explain to me how it is disrespectful??? Like I said previously, there are many CREDIBLE ARTICLEs on the internet that claim he has it.

+Xenosion, I see you are wrongly stereotyping persons with Aspergers because of that shooting. You having been been reading many misleading and inaccurate articles. All people with Aspergers widely differ from each other, not everyone is the same! Adam Lanza had very serious issues. Id hate to hear what you think about Schizophrenics too!

Bill Gates having Aspergers disorder has been a big topic floating around on the web for many years! I am not the first person to believe he has it!

Definitely a possibility that Bill Gates has Asperger's, although maybe not. My best friend has it and he is very socially awkward but super-smart. He is a genius at math. With that being said, I doubt my friend would ever feel comfortable enough to be a leader at a huge company like Microsoft. I certainly don't know the company culture/structure over at MSoft but I kind of think a person with Asperger's would have a hard time dealing with such a large amount of people every day.

Also, from reading the previous responses of other people in this thread, they have no idea about psychology at all. Rather than flaming the OP for starting the topic, just don't post about what you have no idea about!

Errr... the profile of Aspergers doesn't even resemble Gates at all. You do know that Aspergers is almost always associated with severe social and communication difficulties, both of which Gates doesn't have at all? I wouldn't even stretch as far as saying he has any sort of Autism.

And yes, I would agree that contemplating if somebody has a disorder is quite disrespectful.

Unless Bill Gates has admitted it or you have seen his medical report this is pure internet speculation.

I'm sure there is a disorder for those who believe everything they see on the internet

Aspergers is a spectrum disorder, not all persons with it have severe social and communication difficulties! Some persons range from high functioning to lesser functioning. People with the disorder immensly concentrate on one thing! That is why it is called the geek disorder, because someone with the syndrome could concentrate on something for many hours which can cause social problems!

There is nothing to know. No one here knows Bill Gates let alone personally or even medically. It's all based on here-say from "credible articles" that also have no idea. I can't believe you don't see how pointless this is. I'm not just saying it's pointless just because it's hard to say for sure. I'm saying it's pointless because there is literally nothing credible anyone here is going to be conclude. A consensus on something based on nothing - the pinnacle of pointlessness.

Or you know, he has passion. How absurd!

Maybe his geekiness and the way he talks and everything is Bill Gates personality. You should google this and read the articles. There are credible articles that connect Gates to the disorder. I bet if you asked a psychiatrist, they would say they believe he has it as well! Hypothetically, someone with the disorder could become greatly focused or even obsessed on creating a computer program and make something amazing. Aspergers is almost on the level of ADHD or OCD disorder, they it doesn?t hampers someones ability to live normally in many cases!

I think you don't know about psychology AND psychiatry, as diagnosing someone with a disorder is a job for doctors, thus psychiatry if this is related to behavior. If it is related to behavior and it is neurological, then two doctors have to work together. Psychologists are always used to treat the symptoms, not the disorder. Actually no psychologist is allowed to diagnose someone, because they're not doctors.

You should do your homework before posting "what you have no idea about!" as you stated.

No. No good psychiatrist would "guess"anything... Some of them take YEARS to diagnose someone.

A credible psychiatrist wouldn't answer that question
