BMW X4 Concept officially unveiled

Previews the production model

BMW has officially unveiled the X4 concept, following this morning's leak.

Set to debut at the Shanghai Motor Show, the X4 follows in the footsteps of the X6 by adopting a dynamic design that hints at the crossover's "outstanding performance and driving dynamics."

The front fascia is dominated by a prominent kidney grille that is flanked by LED headlights which incorporate three dimensional daytime running lights. The model is also equipped with a sculpted hood and large air intakes which have matte black trim and chrome accents.

Moving further back, the side profile has a striking roofline that clearly echoes its larger brother. We can also see curved character lines and plastic body cladding that provides contrast to the Long Beach Blue exterior.

Out back there's a dual exhaust system, wraparound LED taillights and a distinctive rear bumper which has integrated underbody protection.

BMW declined to mention what powers the concept, but the production model is expected to offer a TwinPower Turbo 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 240 bhp (179 kW) and 260 lb-ft (352 Nm) of torque as well as a TwinPower Turbo 3.0-liter inline-six with 300 bhp (224 kW) and 300 lb-ft (406 Nm) of torque.

The rims look terrible and I would never drive a car like this but I've seen way worse in this category, not so bad. Also I really like the color.

Vile. I'd be embarrassed to own something as vulgar as that.

That's BMW genes for you - a projection of danger, performance, and arrogance :)

I love it! Despite the fact the many at my office consider it to be a girly car, I think, the front is very masculine and aggressive.

Used to be an avid BMW fan, owning couple E46 3-series back in the days. Have to say though that lately they've really let me down with their design language, with many model designs being over complicated and lacking any real focal point. This concept just looks like an X6 and 5 Series GT mashed up together unfortunately.... :(

Miss the good old days when Beemers where aesthetically more simplistic and classy looking.
