Hey everyone,

I have been approached by a friend and asked to assist her in getting WhatsApp for her iPad. She heard she had to jailbreak it. I did a little reading up and saw that it should be possible without having to jailbreak. I have since downloaded and installed iFunBox 2.5. I'm trying to find an easy way to get the app. I have an iPhone that's no longer in use. My question is; can we setup the phone with her account, download and install WhatsApp, sync with iTunes, go grab the .ipa from the AppData folder and install it on her iPad using iFunBox? Or should I just jailbreak her iPad and get it some other way? I'm a fan of jailbreaking myself personally but I don't know her all that much and she doesn't know anything about computers and fixing any issues if she comes across any. I don't want to be getting calls every other day asking for help.

A little background on her; she has family in Asia that all use the app and they have been bugging her to get it. I would suggest using another app but as that's what they use and she wants, I'll do what I can to get her setup with that app.

Any help or ideas you can give me would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

There was an old version of whatsapp which used to work with ipad. You may have to dig around for that.

Can't you just install the iPhone app via the app store on the iPad? As far as I know all iPhone apps on the app store can be installed on an iPad with no extra work.

The only reason to jump through any other hoops would be if it isn't available in the store in your country or to run one of the tweaks that makes iPhone apps look better on an iPad than they do by default.
