Daft Punk's Random Access Memories

Indeed funk is coming back. I've heard undertones of Disco in recent songs. Did it ever really go away though ;)

Finally! We can get rid of Lady Gaga, PSY, Harlem Shake & Co.....

I doubt it would make any difference. You still have Clear Channel controlling the air waves and the same corporations perfecting their revenue machines they call artists. It'll still be manufactured.

Probably the most anticipated album of the year. I can't wait. From what I've heard so far, I reckon it might end up being better than "Discovery". :D

I heard the leaked version of Get Lucky on the radio this morning, and assuming it's genuine, I was frankly a little disappointed. It certainly sounded like Daft Punk (and the video above) but it also sounded very generic IMO. Not really what I was expecting. Hopefully the full album will be much better!

I'll check it out. I like a lot of Daft Punk's stuff. Thanks for the heads up. (Y)

Point of interest, has anyone actually SEEN who the Daft Punk guys are? I don't think I ever have.

Well, there is this old picture of them, which I think was taken before they formed Daft Punk...

No idea if there's any recent images of them though.

EDIT: A couple more old pictures, and even a video...

Found this also from here :

The Collaborators on the new Daft Punk album "Random Access Memories"

Episode 1 - Giorgio Moroder

Episode 2 - Todd Edwards

Episode 3 - Nile Rodgers

Episode 4 - Pharrell Williams

(Pharrell Williams doesn't half spout some nonsense though)

Found this also, not sure how happy the boys will be that he's playing a full track, he'll probably get blacklisted by a lot of labels.

Daft Punk have had their roots in disco for aaaaages though, all they used to do was sample and cut up old disco and soul tracks, now they're actually creating the same kind of stuff but with a new tangent.

  • 4 weeks later...

Just want to say that the album has just been streamed on iTunes that you can listen for free. Also a leaked version is out and the album is by far really awesome :D.

I love this album! You can't go into this album expecting it to be like their others, in fact its pretty much a completely different sound and feel than the others. I'm liking the electro disco feel to some of the songs as well.

It's really timeless on its own just like the rest of their stuff, these sounds are unique and respect the eras in which they were played.
