Can anyone recommend a good flip leather case for Ipod Touch 4g?

Recommended Posts

I just bought an Ipod Touch 4th Generation and am looking for a good flip leather case. I don't want to spend too much (i.e. $20 or less) and I want a flip leather case so it can protect the screen. I don't want one with a magnetic flap as I personally believe that magnet can do some harm to the Ipod overtime. I also want one that has open holes for the camera lens, the charging port and the headphone jack. I've been searching through Amazon and am having a hard time finding the right leather case that meets all these requirements. So, I need some help.

Can someone recommend a good flip leather case with no magnetic flap that's under $20?

If you want to protect your ipod get a otterbox defender.

It has a clear screen protector built into the case. IMO spend the extra $10 for your sanity.

I can't tell you how much this has saved my kids ipod from drops and scrapes. They also have the best case warranty, they will replace the case at no cost if it becomes damaged.

You can see the clear protective cover at :49

here is a otterbox defender vs a griffin survivor drop test, both similar

Both otterbox and griffin offer lower models, these are their most rugged models.

Are the holes in the bottom PERFECTLY positioned on the charging port and headphone jack? A lot of these cases tend to be a bit off on the position of their holes. So, I just want to confirm that one thing before making such an expensive purchase...

expensive is when you have to replace it due to a cracked or non functioning screen. $30 beats $200+ In the first video at 2:20 you can see the case where he shows the bottom rubber piece which protects the earphone and sync/charge location, you can see there is plenty of room to get the cables in there. Nothing stops the cables from being able to plug in.

Just make sure the screen is clean and free of dust or it will be stuck between the shield and the screen.

I went to Best Buy and was hoping to see this in store so I can see what it looks like in person and can buy it right away, but they didn't have it. Oh well. Just placed my order from Amazon. It seems like they're the only retailer that carries this particular case...

I got my case in the mail the other day and to be honest, that rubber piece is the only complaint I have. Since I have headphones plugged in 95% of the time, that rubber piece can become annoying. It's ok to cover the charge port, but it's impractical to have the earphone port covered. Aside from that little flaw, it's a great case, nevertheless. I'd be hard pressed to find a better case out there. So, I'm very happy with the purchase.

If it is that annoying you can cut out that rubber piece that covers the headphone leaving the charge cover in tact. But if you like having it there just in case you can leave it. We cut out the rubber for the headphones leaving charger in tact.

my wife has the same case for her iphone. this weekend my daughter throws the phone down on the ground, hardwood floors, and my wife doesn't even flinch. Almost any other case that phone would have cracked or shattered. I can't recommend the defender enough.

For under $20 i don't know any good cases, but here's the one i've been using for a few years now:

Would you trust your enough to do what this guy does at 8:15 here https://www.youtube....h?v=2egoH96q4Hg I have had serious drops with this case and it has never cracked. I can't say that I would have the trust of being able to simply drop it with that belkin (I have seen plenty of oopsies) and I have had a belkin case which did little to protect and ended up with a cracked screen.

Sure if i was getting paid to do stuff like that then i would try it. But since i use my ipod every day and got no reason to toss it. So my belkin works great for me.

  • 2 months later...

My brother has the same problem with his iPhone. He searched many shops to solve his phone's problem. Atlast, he bought a good flip to his iPhone recently. It was less in cost and has open holes also for the camera, charging ports. But it didn't has for headphone jack. If anyone having better solutions than this please share your views.
