PCLinuxOS has been my distro of choice for quite some time now. I have been using it since the Beta and have found it more responsive on my laptop then the 32 bit edition was.

I am very glad to see that they finally released a 64 bit edition of their distro.

Well, I have it dl'd and loaded to a thumbdrive. However, after the initial splash, I am met with a command line interface. Only thing I can do with it, is login to to root. No desktop displays for me. I have not used PCLOS in many years, so am lost on what else to try.

I tried the normal ways to load the desktop. But no go.

Can't you just run startx?

Tried that. Didn't wprk. The MD5 checks out. So I don't know.

I like KDE for its eye candy appearance and customization abilities.64 Bit is a plus.Yet I wonder why 1.6 GB size?

Fullblown KDE is quite large.

So, I tried the following:

login as root
drakx11
set your video,
logout,
login as guest
startx
But that returned the following:
snmpd[4023] No pswpout line in /proc/vmstat
Now I'm dead in the water with this.
