It deliberately scares people into believing that the government is overly powerful and unstoppable, scaring people into believing that the government wants to take away guns to control people when it's actually about public safety. If the government can't even pass gun control legislation like universal background checks?which are supported by the vast majority of the public?then it's never going to be able to tackle the serious issues facing society.
