iPhone tether creates a new network everytime I connect

Recommended Posts

I have iphone 4 (yes that's right, 3 years and still working great and still looks new). and windows 7.

Whenever I connect my computer to the iphone's internet via tethering, it'd create a new network connection. Everytime I tether, I get a window asking me to select a location for the network (Home, Work, Public). Each time I tether, the connection says, "iPhone 1", next time I tether, it now says "iPhone 2", next time "iPhone 3", on and on. I'm up to "iPhone 30".

The word "iPhone" is the name of the iphone I gave it. Yep simple really. It comes up in Computer as iPhone and itunes as iPhone. Same for my ipad as iPad. Simple. that is why it is showing up as iPhone in network.

Why is it creating a new network everytime? I haven't changed anything. Haven't got a new connection. I do have ADSL and switch between the two connections.

"Expected" because Windows sees a different gateway each time. Since you don't have a static IP either will always cause that to happen. You can combine em but guess no way to fix that per say.
