Call of Duty: Ghosts outed via online retail websites
by John Callaham

Has the title of the next Call of Duty game from publisher Activision been revealed early? That's what has apparently happened as two retailers posted up images that reference a game call Call of Duty: Ghosts.

Joystiq reports that Tesco's website had an actual pre-order listing for the game with the image shown above. That listing has since been removed. In addition, someone uploaded the image of a Target print ad that mentions a way to reserve Call of Duty: Ghosts for the Xbox 360 and PS3 for $1, with a release date mentioned for November 5th.

While the title may have been outed, details about the game itself have yet to be revealed. It's likely that Infinity Ward is the main developer of Call of Duty: Ghosts, since they usually create the game in the series that are released on odd-numbered years.

If the title of the game is showing up in online and print ads, we must be getting close to an official reveal from Activision. In the past, that usually means a story-oriented trailer is released, followed by the first details on the game's plot. Naturally, we will report when that information is available.

Let me guess, it's going to be the main showcase of the next Xbox at E3, after all, Microsoft haven't broken that tradition yet.

The part of the Joystiq article that made me laugh the most was this:

"The Call of Duty franchise continues to set the bar for innovation,"

Really, innovation in CoD has gone MIA since Activision took over!?!!

They should just re-release CoD4. People would actually like that, and it'd be an improvement!

Ghosts? I'd love it to be more spec ops stealth based. I loved the "Ghillied up" mission in CoD4

I think the title of the next CoD should be Yet Another Yearly Generic Call of Duty.

It's a shame this serie went from best in class to a sad joke.

"Ghosts" being because there is no-one left out of the character assets to kill off?

There's always Ghost Recon which is much better than CoD anyway ... well at least the latest ones anyway.

That's my favourite mission of the entire Call of Duty series. I'd be interested if they put more emphasis on stealth gameplay.

COD4 suited stealth gameplay much more than any of the sequels, nothing better than playing as the last man on your team against one man on Search and Destroy in Overgrown, Bloc, Pipeline or Downpour.

They should just re-release CoD4. People would actually like that, and it'd be an improvement!

It would actually bring a lot of people back to it, new great graphics on the new consoles and possibly add more customization with gamemodes and load-outs.
