One thing that always amazes me about Linux is how much better Firefox runs in it compared with Windows.I can hardly stand to use it in Windows anymore.

Huh I've always had the opposite experience with Firefox, it's been clocking in a bit lower in the various Linux distros I work with than on Windows (7 x64), that's using a copy of the profile and all addons to keep it fair. Nothing dramatic though, if I didn't look at a benchmark I'd never see it, typically just a couple percent at best, and obviously stuff like Flash is a whole different ballgame entirely. Usually see a bigger difference out of Chromium's performance favoring Linux, but really can't stand to use that one.

And as far as Xubuntu goes.. yea they do a pretty spiffy XFCE distro, quite nice overall if XFCE's your thing. (And I'll take it over Unity or Gnome 3 any day.)
