2K Games won't be exhibiting at E3 2013
by John Callaham

One of the biggest third party game publishers, 2K Games, has announced it will not be attending the biggest video game trade show this year. The company revealed on its blog site earlier this week that it "will not have a booth on the show floor at this year’s E3 conference" at the Los Angeles Convention Center.

The blog post did not offer a specific reason for why 2K Games decided not to exhibit at E3 2013, saying only that it plans to offer "live gameplay and event broadcasts" later this year via its YouTube and Twitch.tv channels for its upcoming game lineup.

That list of games now includes The Bureau: XCOM Declassified, the retooled version of the XCOM sci-fi action game that was first announced in 2010 as a first person shooter. The game has now been changed to a third person tactical shooter and will be released on August 20 for the PC, Xbox 360 and PS3.

Developer 2K Marin is still the main team behind the game, which is set in 1962. It will also serve as an origin story for the XCOM organization that was seen in the acclaimed 2012 third person strategy game XCOM: Enemy Unknown.

I think companies have seen the positive reaction to Nintendo Directs and figure they could save a lot of money doing their own things.

Its a shame, thou I suspect many just know the new consoles will steal the limelight anyway. Or it's the 2013 thing.

idk, man. E3 is like a crazy drug hype machine. Maybe 2K doesn't have anything worth showing.
