At the end of the day it doesn't matter whether his claim of ignorance is true or not, it's not an excuse when he could ask someone for verification.
"He didn't appear to try and open the door to see if we were open, if anybody was there, if anyone was even there to help him load it. Because the lights were off. So I assume he knew that nobody was there."
I agree that his argument is ridiculous, but leaving merchandise sitting on a porch outside the store with nobody there doesn't seem very smart either.
HAHA this is funny. Time to change the name of the store.
I'd think there would be a sign, like "please pay inside".
