Looking for an unarchiving utility that can browse the archive and extract

Hi

I am Looking for a utility that allows you to browse the archive file and extract individual files from it. I'm looking for this same kind of functionality when updating archives. Any suggestion for OSX.

Never found a single app on mac that can do that, kaka or keke or whatever it's called is probably the most universal mac file extractor and not even that provides such a feature.

I have The Unarchiver, but you can't browse the archive though. It works the Mac Way, you click and it does everything for you. Why would you need to extract just a few files ? It'll take you more time to extract what you want, than just extracting everything, unless you're working with 2 GB compressed files, then I would understand that.

Maybe WinZip for Mac could work it out for you ?

Entropy basically does what you can do with Winzip and it can be purchased through the AppStore.

I use BetterZip.

It's not free but as far as I can tell it's the ONLY archiving program which acts like a normal Windows one like WinRAR or 7zip.

The Archive Browser does exactly what you're looking for. You can even Quick Look items straight from the app, which is pretty convenient.

Unfortunately that's about as good as you will get. OSX has never had any decent archiving tools, you won't be able to modify an existing archive nor will you be able to use many password protection/custom compression algorithms. Having said that, this is good enough for casual users! For those who are wondering, there is no equivalent of WinRAR on OSX.

What a load of crap, what do you call this:

You can open, edit, compress, using passwords, encrypt etc. If you want to ignore peoples posts then great but don't then make claims about things that you deliberately ignore the facts over.

Yeah I literally just posted that there is software that works just like WinRAR on Windows and someone posts saying that there is no software that works just like WinRAR on Windows.

I thought it was just BetterZip but it seems there is another as well. :)
