HL 2 games available for Linux (Steam)

They aren't charging anything if you already own the games. If not, of course you'll need to purchase them.

Hahaha indeed but there must be a team dedicated to HL3 and porting HL2 wasn't so hard because the engine was ported before

No, I fee like they should be focusing in on Linux.. Not for TOTAL LINUX domination all linux peeps would like to see, but because Linux deserves for attention..

If they actually launch Half Life 3 for a "temporary" exclusivity on linux things are going to get interesting... (and weird)

Their time would have been better spent on getting HL3 or Ep3 out of the door.

or portal 3...humm..

i see a pattern, it seems Valve as some problem with the number 3!

I think Gabe is actually dumb enough to do it.. As most Neowinans know.. I love linux :D but there is smart business and not so smart business.. I hope Gabe doesn't let his ego get in the way of his company..

I don't think it will be a bad idea to release to Linux first. For like a week. Windows (and maybe Mac) users will wait and play a week later. Some console game producers does that already

Couldn't see that happening, at least from a smart financial standpoint. They invest an awful lot of money into creating these games.. rule #1 for companies that sell a product.. sell to as many people as possible. Regardless of which console you pick you've got a rather large user base and you can easily get away with it, but with a Linux desktop you're dealing with ~1-2%, pretty much doing the exact opposite you want to be doing to make money. Probably wouldn't generate a lot of positive feedback either from the majority of their users either. (Before anybody spins it, it's not a Linux bash, purely talking business sense.)

My other post was more of a tongue-in-cheek kind of comment. I'm all for more Linux gaming. I'm just very jaded about Valve. If something comes out of that office that isn't related to Portal or HL3, then I get angry.

I hear that.. hoping HL3 doesn't go the way of Duke Nukem... just finish the bloody storyline already. Half tempted to bribe the guy with a box of Twinkies for motivation.
