Windows 8 show Logical partition as Recovery

Recommended Posts

Hi there

Few days ago I installed Windows 8 Pro on my second HDD.

I'm satisfied of this version of Windows. On my several years old desktop, it's quite faster then Windows 7.

However, I have a problem with one of HDDs (3rd HDD).

It's 1TB Western Digital SATA drive with single NTFS partition.

Disk Management shows this drive as "Healthy (Recovery Partition)", I can't assign any drive letter. Partition (and all data) is unusable.

When I boot OS from 1st HDD, where Windows 7 is installed, WD drive works fine: I can read and modify all my data and write new files.

In Windows Disk Management partition is listed as Logical.

Do you know why Windows 8 isn't working with this hardware while Windows 7 works great?

Some additional informations:

- Windows 8 Pro x64 (and Windows 7 Professinal x64)

- Mobo: ASUS P5KC

- CPU: Core2Duo E8500

- When I right-click on partiton in Disk Management, context menu show Help button only.

Do you have any ideas?

Best regards,

Kamil.

please download this tiny file named "PTEDIT32.exe"(size:175KB) and run it as an adminitrator. select your error drive/disk on the top. if you are familior with this file then you can do it yourself. just you need to change the type of partition most probably from 12 to 07 but I will advise you to please run it and take a snapshot of this and without changing any value to it exit from it and post here for better analysis. one mistake will destry your data on it
