Windows 7 & 8 and ReadyBoost

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Ok I am somewhat embarrassed to ask this but I do not use it so I really don't know. Would ReadyBoost be of any use/help on either a Windows 7 or Windows 8 system with 16G of high speed ram?

If not just stop reading now and reply with a big fat NO. If so what would be the fastest suggest speed and size of the flash drive(s)?

Thanks,

Chalk me up in the "big fat NO" category. ReadyBoost is designed to help with low-memory situations (say 512MB clunkers and the like) when it may not be possible to add more system RAM. With 16GB that shouldn't ever happen, just going to be wasted doing nothing. ReadyBoost is more of a "well it's better than nothing" option if anything.
