Moms hire handicapped tour guides so kids can cut lines at Disney World

Some wealthy Manhattan moms have figured out a way to cut the long lines at Disney World ? by hiring disabled people to pose as family members so they and their kids can jump to the front, The Post has learned.

The ?black-market Disney guides? run $130 an hour, or $1,040 for an eight-hour day.

?My daughter waited one minute to get on ?It?s a Small World? ? the other kids had to wait 2 1/2 hours,? crowed one mom, who hired a disabled guide through Dream Tours Florida.

?You can?t go to Disney without a tour concierge,?? she sniffed. ?This is how the 1 percent does Disney.?

The woman said she hired a Dream Tours guide to escort her, her husband and their 1-year-old son and 5-year-old daughter through the park in a motorized scooter with a ?handicapped? sign on it. The group was sent straight to an auxiliary entrance at the front of each attraction.

Disney allows each guest who needs a wheelchair or motorized scooter to bring up to six guests to a ?more convenient entrance.?

The Florida entertainment mecca warns that there ?may be a waiting period before boarding.? But the consensus among upper-crust moms who have used the illicit handicap tactic is that the trick is well worth the cost.

Not only is their ?black-market tour guide? more efficient than Disney World?s VIP Tours, it?s cheaper, too.

Disney Tours offers a VIP guide and fast passes for $310 to $380 per hour.

having been only a couple months removed from a bowel operation and NPT wanting to ruin my kids vacation, we hired a wheelchair from one of the local wheelchair establishments for about $30 a day.

My stomach had just finished healing and i couldn't walk. still can't walk right so the veterans affairs gave me a walker and a wheelchair.

This breaks my heart because they do allow us to go to the head of the line on say the small world and peter pan ride, but it is a blessing for those of us who are in wheelchairs.

Excuse me good sir but do you seriously fricking believe that the "free market" has no limit for morality or ethics? As a disabled person myself who has cut lines let me tell you something your waiting in line is nothing compared what many (other than myself) disabled people go though. I don't get how they can pose as family members anyway I had to bring documentation with my name on it to prove my genuine disability at euro Disney. And a friendly side note to the OP it could be because I am from Europe but to Americans still use the term "handicapped"? It is not offensive but somewhat outdated, we tend to use the word disability as opposed to a person with "cap in hand".

I didn't stretch anything I inferred it based on your statement, would you also see no problem in me hiring a black person to stand in front of me and shade me from the sun at the beach since their skin absorbs sunlight (UV rays etc) better? You shouldn't as a disabled person feel the need to use you free will to market your medical status its exploitation its akin to only having "blacks" around as maids but never as friends them people wouldn't choose to take a disabled child for example or on their trip with them would they? The only reason they wish to be around people like me is to use us.

Went to 6 Flags with my friends. Had an "ankle brace" and rented a wheelchair for the day ($25). Went on all the rides with barely waiting all day. At the end of the day returned wheelchair and got $20 back. $5 fast pass :)

Now you're missing the stronger argument. These "rich folk" are employing the disabled people not really to hang out with them, but just to skip lines. The fact that they get to spend a day out, not do anything particularly strenuous, get handed a big paycheck, and maybe get treated nicely for the look of the thing are completely secondary to being used for some physical attribute.

Then again, we have cases where employability is contingent on some physical parameter in an acceptable fashion. It's like hiring tall people to play basketball, or short people to play dwarves in movies. They get "used" because of what they are, and get cut a paycheck in the end. I guess you'd get an aneurysm if you think about human clinical trials that exploit a subset of people based solely on their having a particular condition (yes, among medical advances, there have also been most egregious crimes), both for new pharmaceutical therapies, as well as limb augmentations for amputees.

The guide is also to blame.

Also to blame is Disney for allowing too many people in to the attraction park thus creating the long ques.

I remember as a child going to Alton Towers in 1982 with my school.

The ques where literally miles long and a wait of nearly one to one and a half hours for a ride.

I can't be arsed to wait so I went on the big slide and had heaps more fun, with the other children that could not be arsed to wait.

next time I go to disneyland, i'd expect to have to verify my disability which in all actuallity a touchy subject with HIPAA laws.
