Anderson Cooper will be moderating a debate between Lisa Simpson and her rival... thirty years in the future?

As FOX's 'The Simpsons' continues its descent into terrible television, the series' writers seem content to pack each episode with as many celebrity guest appearances as possible. The latest name in that endless parade is Anderson Cooper, former host of 'Anderson Cooper 360' as well as the talk show Cooper'Anderson.'

The forty-five year old Cooper has been a news and talk television mainstay since 1999. Recently seeing his two largest-profile series come to an end, Cooper's name has been bandied about with a few others as a potential replacement as the host of 'Jeopardy!' when Alex Trebek elects to step down. He has also been in the news regarding a potential project which he would co-host with Kathy Griffen, the comedian who co-hosts 'New Years Eve Live' with Cooper since 2011.

The episode of 'The Simpsons' that features Cooper is about Lisa befriending a girl who is her match in every way, except one: she?s a conservative Republican. ?They end up running against each other in the second-grade election,? explains exec producer Al Jean. ?And then we flash to the future where they?re [engaged] in an actual presidential debate ? and Anderson is the moderator.?

Despite Cooper appearing as himself at age seventy-five, the animators explained that he won't look all that different. "He has that sort of luck that even 30 years from now he?ll look the same," Jean laughed.

Cooper's episode of 'The Simpsons' is slated to air in December 2013.
