Figured as much. Haters gonna hate though.

Why would any gamer enjoy this after how this generation worked?

it gets even better

Penello says, have "the ability to go over to your friends house, download your save game, or even download your game to his Xbox and pick up where you left off."

you don't even need to drag the disc with you when you go over to your friends house. you just login and download the game off xbox live.

I didn't say anything about enjoying it. Fact of the matter is that it's not really going to be any different for almost everyone.

If you don't enjoy something you can easily hate it.....

I let my GF borrow my PS3 games, I'm sure a lot of other people share games between them. Well... Gamers and GF's don't always go ;)

The difference here is that you install the game fully and then don't need the disc. If they didn't tie it to your profile somehow then one guy would just buy the game and all his friends would be able to install it and play for free.

I'm sure there is more to this story.

Why do they make simple things so complicated...

I mean, so many questions and clarification after clarification about

being able or not to play used games

being able to transfer save files

being able to play with out internet connection or is the last one a requirement anf if yes does it have to be constant or once per day.

So many "meaningless" stuff that are connected with the release of a new entertainment system that they shouldn't be, at least not in that degree.

Stuff like new games, tech specs, new features, gameplay graphics etc is what Microsoft should have mades us discuss and not all these freaking nonsense

I dont see the problem with this. If you are at a friends house playing wouldn't you rather be playing under your own profile/gamertag as opposed to simply being a guest??

Is that a micro usb? If it is, can we recharge any rechargeable batteries via the controller or we will need to purchase an xbox battery pack as well?

I think it will be more comfortable

They really want to know if you can lend a game out, I bet you can, and I bet that as long as that game is lent out you can't play it either. I'm going to make a guess and say each disc has some encryption key on it, as with every console so far actually. That key is matched to your account, so if that same key is flagged on another account the first one could be turned off until the second one is uninstalled.

So, until your friend is done and uninstalled the game and gave you the disc back then your installed copy won't play. Just a guess though.

You sir are a die hard ps fan. What are you doing here? All you have to say is negatives about the Xbox. Can we xboxers enjoy the news without any FUD or negatives being spilt?

You don't like the console fine (no one was forcing you to get it anyway)

You don't like the way it looks? (Fine too, nofu)

You don't like that Microsoft didn't only focus on games (ur a ps fan, you weren't going to buy the Xbox anyway)

Spot on. As the games are able to be downloaded or installed off the BD disk onto the HDD it would be stupid to let that be done an infinite amount of times. Sure the X360 allowed u too install to HDD but you required the disc to actually run it. With XB1 it will most likely be possible to carry the disc and be able to run it on any console without the sign in agreement and selling the game may require you to "release" the game from your user ID. There is more to the story than "M$ just wants to use DRM".

MS have brought this negative attention on themselves from gamers, unless of course you think I'm in charge of the internet.

And everyone keeps saying its kotaku only, not really....

Well maybe, just maybe, the initial reveal was just to give us a first glimpse at the console and not give every tiny detail up - you know, EXACTLY like they said it would be? FFS you people make me cry for the intelligence of humanity.

The questions your asking don't need to be answered yet, its not on fecking sale until later in the year and they have already said most info will come at E3. Just wait ey?

MS have brought this negative attention on themselves from gamers, unless of course you think I'm in charge of the internet.

How so, it seems that people are jumping from one disproven rumour to another with one general theme floating between them all - MS hate!

Nothing needs to be answered now, it will all come in time, sites need page views, page views are better generated with sensational content to get everyone whipped up into a little internet storm based on nothing other than 'they should blar blar, they shouldn't blar blar' and no content.

I personally think the way this will be handled, once fully revealed, will be very nice and will bring benefits but I just don't know and I don't need to know as I'm not in a fecking shop on the verge of buying one because, you know, ITS NOT ON FREEKING SALE UNTIL NEAR HOLIDAYS!!! jesus I need to calm down, I just get so annoyed with the stupidity of people, it makes me sad.

That is a known Sony fanboy site- probably the worst example you could use. Also, they are just hopping on the rumour bandwagon.

Say what?! GamesIndustry has absolutely no history to being tied to a Sony fanboy site or anything of the likes, please supply some convincing evidence....

This works like steam - games are tied to an account ; pay MS to unlock from your XBL account to resell them (unlike STEAM)

same with origin etc - pc`s been doing it this way for a good few years now

They posted a negative Microsoft article, proof enough......no?

Yeah except historically you've never been able to rent PC games, I've been renting games since the SNES/Megadrive.

I think MS could give us a resell option for everything and cut out the middle man. What if I could buy a XBLA or GoD copy of a game, beat it and then want to sell it to someone? Right now I can't on the 360 but maybe they have a system in place so we can do that on the XB1?

Are you somehow implying that you are a better than others here because you are a gamer and you have a GF? If yes, that's a new low for you.

On one hand I have no objections if they go with what you are describing there but that's just too much "work" for gamers. It also locks out public libraries in the USA. I have routinely checked out 360 games from local library (those that I had no intention to buy). It will also kill services such as GameFly and Redbox.

If they combine this with lower initial price of the games (say $40 instead of $60) then it will be easier to swallow it.

You sir are a die hard ps fan. What are you doing here? All you have to say is negatives about the Xbox. Can we xboxers enjoy the news without any FUD or negatives being spilt?

Now watch him pretend how he is a gamer at heart and cares about gaming culture blah blah blah.

I didn't see anywhere MS say the disc wont be needed ... did I miss that?

Phil Harrison made some confusing remarks to a Kotaku guy. He talked about "hypothetical scenarios" or what's possible. Kotaku combined it with previous rumors and ran with it.

The basic premise is that the disc can act like a delivery medium and once you "activate" it on your profile, you will no longer need it because it is tied to your account. Think Games on Demand of Xbox 360 but games are installed from the disc instead of Xbox Live.

This is nothing to do with being a PS3 fan, etc. This is about Microsoft essentially killing off the second hand game market (or at least, reducing it's value somewhat).

Say I have a copy of 1 game on the shelf, and my friend has another. We can no longer just play each others games without having to be signed into the others account, or paying a fee. How is that a good thing?
