MariosX
Hello I have read a couple of old articles which say that LGA 2011 socket is compatible with old LGA 1366 socket Can anyone say for sure? Thanks
YounGMessiah
Sockets arent the same and wont work, but I believe the mounting holes were the same..
The_Decryptor Veteran Posted May 22, 2013 Veteran Share Posted May 22, 2013 Things like coolers might work across sockets, but CPUs don't.

Wakers
It's a pre-release article based on a rumour. It didn't turn out to be true.

n_K
The only compatible CPU sockets I'm aware of is sockets 3-7 and socket 370, and socket 603-604.
Phouchg
Take a soldering iron, heat a large amount of solder, pour it in LGA 1366 (make sure to cover all pins), put LGA 2011 CPU on top, let it cool down! There ya go! Works for AMD, too! Do *not* do this :shiftyninja:
