Nexus 4 vs S4

Recommended Posts

So I've been Googling around the net about this and I decided to stop in Best Buy today where they have a special Samsung section and took a look at the S4. I have to say it's a beautiful piece of hardware. Held up against my Nexus, I noticed 2 things right away, it's thinner and the display is GORGEOUS. The processor makes the device quite snappy and the bells and whistles Samsung adds like eyeball scrolling and multi-window apps work really nice. I was so impressed, that I check on my upgraded right then. As I am not due yet, it's not worth it to pay the full price for it. Plus, by the end of June they'll have the "Nexus experience" version which I may go for although I'll lose some of the nice Samsung stuff. I must say that the speed added with the thinness and the jaw-dropping gorgeousness of the display would have had me buying the phone if it weren't for the fact that my upgrade pricing is on the horizon.

With that mini review said, has anyone gone from a Nexus 4 to a Samsung S4 and been a happy camper? I'd like to hear Neowinian's experiences.

I played with the S4, and wasn't impressed at all. It wasn't the hardware, it was the software. Touchwiz just gets more bloated with every version, and it makes for a miserable experience. I would much rather have the S4 Google edition (don't use the term 'Nexus' :p). I would say if you're going to upgrade to the S4, get the Google edition.

Well the Galaxy S4 is better than the Nexus 4 spec wise, by a tad, but it's a Samsung, and expensive for what ya get compared to the Nexus 4.

I agree that the S4 is better than the Nexus for sure and you know you will be able to root it and put the standard Nexus rom on it as soon as the source is released next month

Both are equal, but Nexus 4 can recieve more updates

The S4 and nexus experience rom will have to be hacked together if you want the bells and whistles that the S4 has which the nexus experience Galaxy S4 will not take advantage of (mainly all the sensors)

You can't really compare the S4 and the N4. The S4 is a generation newer. The right comparison would be the s3 vs N4.

the S4 nexus version I will definately consider. but the S4 samsung version wasnt impressive to me. way too many gimmicks and the smoothness isnt fair to the hardware it sports. my N4 appears to be smoother overall.

I have a Nexus 4 and wanting to get a S4..

While pure Android is really nice.. the Nexus 4 just isn't doing it for me anything..

Crap Camera, No LTE, 16GB Storage limit.. I am going to get the S4 Nexus when it comes out..

If you don't want to do that.. Root the S4 and flash a Good Rom.

Yeah, don't expect many updates from Samsung.

Actually Samsung seems to have learned from that. The newer phones , S3 and up, are all supposed to go up to Android 5.0+. Of course, not all features might make it, but Samsung has said that they plan to update them to such as much as possible. But time will tell.

The amount of sensors on the s4 is just crazy!

Altimeter, hygroscope, rgb, temperature, barometer... if that flots your boat anyway :p
