Just wondering here. I suppose I'm just jealous of all my friends having ultrabooks now, really nice Dell and HP ones (yes, I hate those 2 companies)

this is the laptop I have now: http://www.newegg.co...N82E16834215235

I bought it off eBay, refurbished, directly from Acer.

Or maybe should I just upgrade the RAM and HDD to a SSD?

The thing isn't loud nor is it ever hot to the touch from general use.

So would getting a Ultrabook be THAT better performance than my current one?

If I can sell this one on eBay (like I did for my old ASUS laptop and ASUS Transformer) for ~$150-200, I could afford a ~$700 one.

If I DO sell it, it won't be until July or August. Still need my laptop for a few things yet.

If anything upgrade the RAM and get a SSD like you suggested. If nothing is wrong with it, I dont see why to sell it unless its not performing to par.

Do you really believe you need an ultrabook? Sounds like you're getting one to fit in.

I want an "Intel Haswell" convertible Ultrabook. The power of a laptop, with the portability and convenience of a tablet. I would like to get one with a digitizer so I can take notes by hand.

I don't think you understand the meaning of the word "paranoid" ;)

Nor the correct use of the would jealous for that matter ;)

I am not trying to be the word police here or anything.. But is english your second language or something?

Are you envious of something your friends have, ok.. jealous is normally used when you might be replaced - your significant other is paying attention to someone else, so they might leave you for them sort of thing. You could say you were jealous of your friends ultrabooks if you thought maybe they would stop being your friend because you only had a normal laptop? ;)

Paranoia or being Paranoid is an irrational/extreme fear of something - are you afraid your friends ultrabooks might kill you or take your current laptop away from you? ;) You might be considered paranoid if you were convinced your acer laptop was bugged by your friends with the ultrabooks for example.

Get an ultrabook, if you are looking for thin + portable + decently powerful. Your current laptop is fine - just pop in an SSD, and you'll get instant results.

Guess I used paranoid in the wrong way. Think envious would be the right term.

Just having some fun is all, yes envy would seem to be a more appropriate term in this context ;)

Its odd that you state "really nice Dell and HP ones" about their ultra books, but then state "(yes, I hate those 2 companies)"

From where are we to gather that you dislike these companies - from your praise of their ultrabooks? ;) Quite a confusing post..

If you want a ultrabook, and in your budget - then I say go for it! I would assume you will not be buying them from hp or dell because you hate their really nice ultrabooks ;)

They look nice, on sight, but I'm sure if I look up their hardware, I would be quite disgusted.

I'll think about it. ;) I'd rather go with an Acer, ASUS, or Samsung.

Edit: or Lenovo, couldn't think of name :p
