I'm just not sure, there's too many variables to take into account until E3 and how the execution of these platforms will begin to take shape.

Interesting to see people switching from Microsoft to Sony.

Well this time it is a level playing field. All accessories aren't compatible from current gen. No backwards compatibility. They are both releasing around the same time. This gen is essentially starting fresh.

Exactly. Even being a PC gamer, I think I'll be jumping on board with a PS4 this time around to see what all I have been missing from the console world. Also, given that I'm working full time and going to school full time, I don't think I could justify paying for a Gold subscription with Microsoft that I would barely even use to begin with.

A lot of rich people here willing to pay $60 for games (and their 2, 3, and 4th parts)

Unless it can play backups, not intrested.

If i could afford i'd get the PS4, the hardware is great. The Xbone requires the cctv in your living room always connected so i'll pass on that. Wii U will be good once good games are out and the price lowers a bit, i'd consider getting one then.

1. $60 is not that much for a game if you get 10+ hours out of it

-You can spend this for a night of bowling and dinner

-People save money for these kind of things

2. So you are going to Pirate from people who work their ass off making a game for you?

-Would you steal food from someone because you felt like it was too expensive?

3. Don't Pirate\steal\be a thief

PS4 - Maybe. I'm going to wait out the initial launch to see all of the features and how they turn out.

Xbox - No. Too many bad requirements, none of which are necessary for gaming. Good job Microsoft.

WiiU - No.

Probably a ps4 when it gets cheap. I don't play games all that much anymore and only a few titles really engage me.

I'm a big Halo fan though, in fact it's one of the very few fps I like because I'm not big on fps games except Halo and Tribes. But the XBOX One so far has disappointed in a major scale and I can't see myself getting it at all. At this point the only thing that could get me to buy it would be backwards compatibility which I still value greatly in any console.

I hope Bungie does an amazing fps game on PS4 so I can forget about Halo.

Thinking much ahead, I wonder what handhelds Sony has planned after PS4, because you know they'll be one..

PS4: Yes (although I may avoid launch if Sony decide to price it stupidly at first like they did with the PS3).

Xbox One: No - over the last couple of years I've slowly converted over to using the PS3 over the 360 as my main console - I see no reason to have both next gen.

Wii U: Already bought. And love it to bits.

PS4 - Yes, at launch

Xbox One - No

Wii U - No, but at the same time, I have owned EVERY Nintendo console in the past (NES, SNES, Virtual Boy, N64, GameCube, Wii) so maybe eventually.

Little analysis on price for both Xbox One and PS4:

Blu-ray Drive: $20 (probably even cheaper by this fall)

500GB HDD - $40 (Sony hasn't announced the HDD size for PS4 yet, but I would be shocked if it was anything other then 500GB)

Memory - $30 (DDR3 for Xbox), $60-$70 (GDDR5 for Sony)

Wi-Fi, USB, ports, other chips, etc. - $30

APU - $150-$200 (Both Xbox and PS4 are using bargain-basement "Jaguar" cores from AMD, and not even pushing the clockspeed of them either at 1.60GHz. These cores are meant to put in SoCs priced around $20-$30 that go into tablets, so even with 8-cores, we are talking very cheap. The GPU part is obviously more substantial, but still nothing compared to high-end PCs. PS4 is now confirmed to have substantially more power then Xbox in this area: 768 shader processors for Xbox, 1152 for PS4. Both are running at 800MHz and both are using the exact same GCN architecture, which means that PS4 is roughly 50% more powerful. Even so, at 1152 SPs we are talking about a GPU in the range of Radeon 7850-7870, or $200-$250 retail price. Xbox also has a 32MB of eDRAM, which adds to die area & cost. I would put both PS4 and Xbox at around $150-$200 for the APU, and probably closer to $150 considering how mature 28-nm already is.)

Total BOM - $270-$320 for Xbox, $300-$360 for PS4.

MAIN POINT: Both of these system can launch at $499 and make a nice profit. Or they can launch at $399 and still make a small profit or take a slight loss.

PS4: Yes

Xbox: No

Wii U: No

Owned a PS2, and PS3. The multimedia aspects of xbox don't justify me switching for sony to ms console wise. I am not huge into FPS games so Halo and other MS Exclusive titles don't do much for me. So the used game/always on doesn't bug me.. but the ps4 will give me the pure gaming I want from a console.

PS4 - Maybe... Will probably wait for a price-drop.

Xbox One - As of today, I don't think so. More impressed with Sony's console... Will not be paying a fee to gain access to a game's multi-player portion, Netflix, etc.

Wii U - Already own one, and I like it very much.

I'm more interested in building a gaming rig, rather than buying another console.

No, I'm not interesting to buy all. We're not kids, but we're adults. We don't play stupid children games.

Waiting on pricing for both PS4 and Xbox One but will be some when after Christmas and likely whichever is cheaper - possibly swayed by launch/post launch games.

Wii U? No thanks, nothing that appeals there.
