Earlier this month, it was revealed that 3D Realms's 1997 first person shooter Shadow Warrior was going to get a reboot
, thanks to developer Flying Wild Hog and publisher Devolver Digital. Today, it was revealed that the original full version of the game is now available for download on Steam, and it's being offered for free.
Originally, the Steam download for the 1997 Shadow Warrior game
(now renamed as Shadow Warrior Classic) was only supposed to be free for a limited time, via a Facebook promotion. However, it looks like some folks found an exploit on the Facebook page and as a result, Devolver Digital has decided to simply offer Shadow Warrior Classic for free on Steam "forever"
The 1997 game is also the last game from 3D Realms to be made using the Build engine that they also used on Duke Nukem 3D. Steam offers up both Windows and Mac versions of the game, which has the player controlling Lo Wang as he fights an assortment of enemies in the country of Japan.
As far as the upcoming Shadow Warrior reboot, it is scheduled for release later in 2013 for the PC and sometime in 2014 for unnamed consoles.
