[Req] Business Bandwidth / Traffic monitor

Question

I am looking for something a little different than what has been requested in several of the other bandwidth monitor threads.

We have a few locations that we have an Aircard (USB Cell Phone Device) connected to a Wireless router (Cradlepoint)

We would like to install software on each computer that is connected to the cradlepoint to see both Total bandwidth usage and Traffic logs, Our current AV implementation for the company does this however, it only shows Traffic that is going through a web browser. We need to see all traffic whether it is coming from iTunes, Pandora One, Outlook, etc... As our Monitored bandwidth from these locations is about 1/10th of the total bandwidth that is used through the Aircard.

It would also have to create a log file.

Any suggestions?

Still looking for a solution on this, so far i have only been able to find hardware solutions for this however, that defeats the purpose of what i am trying to do.

I will give it a try and see if it gives me as much detail as we need.

Sadly that will not work for what we need, we need more than just the Traffic bandwidth, we need URLS and per application bandwidth usage.

net limiter does not work either. It can give me a breakdown per app however, i have to manually look per app and i cannot find a centralized bandwidth used tool. I would have to look at each app and add them together, and you have to open a new window for each app. it is just not detailed enough in the right areas :(

There must be loads of free ones for this kind of thing. I would go with Softperfect also anything on NirSoft? also do you have as server available? Install something like Cacti or MRTG perhaps?

MRTG won't go into it enough. It gives bandwidth sure, but doesn't go into what applications are being the bandwidth hogs or even what sites are being accessed to cause a load. Cacti does the same, not enough info for him. I don't see anything on nirsoft that would give him history, current communicating but not history.

I can't even thing of a appliance or filter that would give him what he wants 100%, sure filters will go against know applications but what happens when it isn't a known application? It would just show web hits, not enough for what he wants. A software firewall like comodo may help, but I don't think even that has application history just what is current. IMO, webfilter and block the things that are known issues, then find out who is communicating the most and see where they are going to and do individual site blocking at that point...it would be far easier to do that than try to figure out what application and user that is causing the bandwidth usage based on tools that are loaded on the individuals computers. A network sniffer could also help, if you don't know of a easy to read one you may want to purchase colasofts capsa, easy to read and figure out.
