It sounds like a stoner's dream, but it's been a bit of a nightmare for a California man who recently got an unexpected FedEx delivery: 11 pounds of marijuana.

George Burton, from Sacramento, Calif., said the FedEx Kinkos box?with his name and return address handwritten on it?was left on his porch Thursday.

Burton and his dog sitter cut it open to find a layer of spray Styrofoam.

"We break into it, I look and say, 'This isn't what I think it is,'" Burton told Sacramento's KXTV.

Burton turned the pot over to police, who believe his address was picked at random. But Burton and his fiancee decided to temporarily leave their home out of fear the intended recipient may resort to violence after discovering the pot?worth about $24,000?is gone.

A sign posted on his front door reads: "Kinkos/FedEx Box Given to Sac Police."

"I'm really concerned someone is going to come looking for this," Burton said. "People have gotten hurt for a lot less than $24,000 worth of marijuana." :ninja:

I would be very worried too, dealers tend to not be all mellow like a regular pot user would be

this guy should have said, even if it isn't true, ": ive got surveillance cameras all around the house and the video is transmitted live and stored to the internet".

im sure when the dealers read the story they wont even think of rolling by the neighborhood.

I think he was probably over reacting to leave his home. I imagine it was all over the news.

Agreed. Unlikely any one would have tried it on with him at his house, especially after he had already informed the police.

Police were quite happy to receive the package as they had nearly run out

I think you've solved the case: someone on the Police ordered it.

It was sent to a 'random' address -- no one would think anything of the Police stopping at a house, carrying away a box.

And many people would call the police if they got this kind of delivery. :shifty:

My very annoying neighbor use to use my address for various deliveries and for buying items they had no intention of paying for.

They finally got in trouble with the law and the debtors when everyone discovered that we were who we said we were and that they lived up the road and was sending packages to our address. They left the country for parts unknown.

Why would they turn it in to the police? I would have sold half and kept half.

Because the dealer would put holes in your for $24k of their product you stole.
