Who's going to be an early adopter of the next-gen?

Well God of War: Ascension just came out so it will probably be quite a while before another God of War game is made.

Yeah I know, but the only reason I bought a PS3 in the first place was because it had GOW3 on it.

Never had any xbox before and I have pre ordered it, I already have a PC and a DVD drive only in the 360 was an off put. But I have ordered an Xbox one.

In the past, I have always waited to buy the next playstation. It took many years the ps3 to evolve and mature. I bought a ps3 finally in 2010 when gran turismo 5 came out as well as the cheaper slim ps3 model. The ps3 will live on as long as having fun does.

This guy.

And I decided since their release is so close to the holidays, which my birthday happens to be December 21st 4 days before Christmas, I will buy myself the PS4, and ask for my family members to all chip in and get the XBox One as my combined birthday/christmas gift, so I plan on having both now. I feel better receiving gifts of things I did not necessarily want to spend the money on myself but have others get it for me. Even if I barely have time to play either these days.

My Birthday is just after Xmas, so I'll be using the same plan :D

Might be. Former generations didn't last eight years and the current ones really aren't cutting it for modern AAA games.

But we also didn't have smart phones, tablets or the iPod Touch and Steam was still relatively new in 2005. The gaming landscape has changed a lot & I'm not sure we'll see the sellouts like last gen. I mean the Wii was OoS for well over a year in some parts of the world. Even the 360 was hard to get 7 months after launch.

Now the hardware is far more standard & closer to PCs, I don't see them struggling to fulfill orders.

I'll probably be wrong but meh, just my thoughts.

I'll be an early adopter, but I won't pre-order. I'll buy one on release when I can. if that's day 1 then sure. I might "pre-order" in the sense that I might order online the week of release if my favorite store has them, but otherwise I'll just wait till they're available.

There's a lot of games I can't wait ti play and some I want to play on Xbox one and not 360. Graphics may not make a game, but they can sure as well make it a lot better and more immersive.

Pre-ordered the xbox from amazon, most likely going to pre-order a ps4 as well. I dont like not having all the consoles as I would hate to miss out on a "must have" game. Im in the same boat as Larry, birthday is in December as well, will combo them up with Christmas, whats $900 of pure entertainment anyway..

I will wait for 6 months after the release or so and see how the eco-system is done and how it works in Australia before buying it.

At ?349 I'll get the PS4. If it were any higher I'd wait and get it later/second hand like the PS3. Hoping for some bundles nearer the time.

Norwegian price of the Xbox one just got revealed and it was a lot lower than I expected. from the normal way the prices change here, I expected it to be at least 5000 NOK. Turns out it's 3999. So I'm definitiely picking one up on release.

Forza five has officially made me change my stance about pre-ordering the Xbox one. The way they use the cloud to keep the game always persistent, and even if I play on my own anyone from my friends list will be playing along with me as well, it just pretty damn insane.

I still have to state FTR although I still do not support all of the decisions that MS have made, I will be picking up the Xbox One as well at launch.

This just really means I will not be upgrading my PC anytime soon. Which is not the biggest deal at the end of the day as I do not get to use it as much as I prefer as I cannot game anywhere near as much on the PC because of the tendinitis issues I have with my mouse wrist. In fact I originally got back into consoles heavily with the release of the 360 and ps3 as a recommendation from my wrist doctor. He was positive using a controller would have less of a detrimental affect then using a keyboard and mouse would. I can actually say it was on my doctors recommendation to pick up a console and controller.

I am actually going to preorder the One from either best buy or target so it is already paid in full, this way I am not dropping nearly a grand all at once on consoles during the holiday season when I will already be spending a lot of money on gifts for others. My initial plan was just to have others pick it up for me for the holidays, but they can pick up all the games and any accessories, extra controllers, etc. It will wind up being perfect from a gifts I ask for perspective.

Truth is I am an older gamer who makes a decent living so I fortunately do not have to choose one or the other. So I will own both consoles at launch, probably will play each way less then I wish I could, and I will lean towards the ps4 for multiplatform titles but still get to xperience the exclusives worthy of being played on both.

I am no doubt most excited for Forza 5 without any doubt and I may even consider picking up the wheel they are reportedly working on to release with Forza 5 as well. Especially since I'm assuming the MS wireless Wheel I currently own will no longer work. I personally feel racing games like Forza and Gran Turismo are 100 times more engaging with a wheel. Forza 5 looks absolutely amazing.

Yeah I've never even owned a Forza and that was pretty awesome sounding so I preordered it.

I'm sure there will be more stuff like that, and deeper uses of the cloud services but we'll have to see what happens :)

I'm not buying any new console until enough games are out that I want to buy.

With the current lineup of games, I'll have a bigger problem deciding what games to start with, I can only play one game at a time you know :)

not a fan of the lockin for games, however i like the xbox because of the controller, the PS controller always hurts my hands after a bit. Sounds crappy but after a few hours going back to the xbox controller feels like heaven.

The launch games look good, hopefully pick up a few, i will probably get a PS4 later on next year as there are some good games coming to it and i would hate to miss out.

I'll wait until i can get a bundle with a few games and hopefully an extra controller for a reasonable price. Hopefully that'll be around Christmas time.

That's probably true for me as well, I haven't check what the actual launch titles are yet.

Before any of the real announcements I was 100% Xbox, but as things started to get a little clearer I started to think about maybe going for a PS4 (chances are i will only get one), it looks like a massive step up from the PS3 that I didn't get on so well with.

Forza 5 is the one game that keeps me on the Xbox side, loved the series since number 2 and with the added cloud features you mention it sounds like Turn 10 are finding new ways to really improve what was nearly a perfect console racing sim.

I also don't see any real exclusive titles on the PS4 that excite me like Forza and possibly Halo.

As for the OP question, depending on funds I hope to pre-order and get as close to release as possible but I'm holding out at the moment to see if they release any decent bundles.

I at the very least enjoy watching all of the people rushing out to get their hands on a console on launch day.

Like watching cattle bustling through those small pens.
