GameTrailers trailer

Who thinks this looked fun as hell? I'm not even that into zombie games though I own most of the popular ones, I lose interest fast. I could definitely dig this one though.

Dear Gamers,

We know you?ve been waiting on a Dying Light release date for quite some time now. After careful consideration, we have decided to release our upcoming game in February 2015. Since this means Dying Light will launch a few months later than originally planned, we feel obliged to explain the reasons that influenced this important decision.

When we started the development of Dying Light, we were committed to innovation. We wanted to give you a freedom of movement unprecedented in open world games. After many improvements and months of hard work, we have now come so close to realizing our initial vision we feel we cannot stop before it is ready.

We believe the Natural Movement element of our game will change what you expect from the genre, and we don?t want to sacrifice any of its potential by releasing too early. This quality-focused thinking underlines all our development choices and we hope you share our belief that the gameplay must always come first.

The new date ensures that we can fully realize our vision of an innovative open world game. We won?t need to make compromises or trade-offs on any of the five platforms we?re working on. For you, it means an outstanding, original game that makes the wait more than worthwhile.

Finally, we would like to thank our publishing partner, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, which fully supports our decision. It?s a real pleasure to work in an environment where quality is universally accepted as the top priority. We believe that this is the only way to make truly incredible games.

We also have an additional announcement for you: starting next month at E3 2014, we?ll be telling you much more about all the exciting features and different aspects of Dying Light. Stay tuned!

I don't know, there is no gameplay.. so I can't really judge it.

Eh? Although it 'cinematically' switches environments that's about what I expect the gameplay to be like.

Mirror's Edge with zombies kinda thing.

I think that was just for artistic effect just for the cinematic. Think like Dead Island, there is no 'rewind' feature.. lol. Although it does probably show you possible locations and what you can do (Parkour?) into ledges, Windows etc.

So far for me it's the most interesting reveal of E3. Partly because I didn't know it was coming, partly because of it doing something different.

Being on both console generations though...I don't know. I doubt the new ones will be used to their potential.

I'm worried about this because Dead Island got boring pretty quick with respawning zombies, Riptide was even worse though I understand it was made by the B-Team of developers. I love zombies, open world and traversal, hopefully this will be good.

I think the delay is a good thing myself. Both Dead Island games were a mess from a performance standpoint, so they clearly are the type of the developer who will benefit from some extra time to tighten things up. I am actually looking forward to this game too, so I would rather play a game that they had time to make it even better.

Title updated

Was going to turn this into an official topic but Feb 2015 is too far away, so it can revert to a news post.

They seemed fine to me.  I probably didn't play them at launch given I'm not a huge zombie fan, but this one I think I will.

Same here, got both on Steam sales well after release, and they ran 99% fine and were good fun. Personally really liked them, though Riptide offered very little innovation in itself. So Dying Light is definitely on the list, though indeed Feb next year might as well be another life.
