Longhorn Palladium White Paper

Recommended Posts

Hello again,

I am looking for the Microsoft white paper regarding Palladium in Windows Longhorn.

An article from The Register, published on the 17th of July, 2002, states that it can be found on Neowin at http://www.neowin.ne...nts.php?id=5530

However, this page no longer exists.

The Internet Archive Wayback Machine offers several versions of that article; with the earliest version archived on December 3, 2002. However, the download link is broken.

The file I am looking for is 651 KB in size, and called Palladium_White_Paper_final.PDF.

Thanks Jianfu for sending me "the business Palladium white paper" - Combining Microsoft Windows Features, Personal Computing Hardware, and Software

Applications for Greater Security, Personal Privacy, and System Integrity.

"Palladium" is the codename for an evolutionary set of features for the Microsoft? Windows? operating system. When combined with a new breed of hardware and applications, these features will give individuals and groups of users greater data security, personal privacy, and system integrity. In addition, Palladium will offer enterprise customers significant new benefits for network security and content protection.

This white paper:

  • Examines how Palladium satisfies the growing demands of living and working in an interconnected, digital
  • Catalogssome of the planned benefits offered by Palladium.
  • Summarizes the software components of Palladium.
  • Presents a suggested broad business approach to enable Palladium to succeed.

I hope I am not violating any rules. The reason I am asking for the file is: 1) Longhorn has much sentimental value to me, and 2) I feel that the article is historically significant because of its subject matter.

Would this be it? Via the archives, June 2002. It's not the PDF you're referring to, but it looks like it may have been the original source of it that was converted into a PDF at a later date.. first paragraph is identical, etc. There's a later addition by an editor on Jan 25, 2003 about Palladium turning into "Next-Generation Secure Computing Base for Windows". Doesn't quite have the same ring to it.

I remember reading it way back when... didn't like what was proposed...

Why? A lot of what is described sounds like a great idea.

Paul Thurrott described some aspects of Palladium at http://winsupersite.com/article/faqtip/windows-longhorn-faq?page=7

You know what? I think that may be it. Do you have any other material?

Thank you, Norris!

If you obtain it, I would definitely love to read it.

+1 for your request and +1 for sending it to me (please smile.png).

I think what Norris posted includes what was in the file. Thank you, articuno1au.
