Boo Berry
Speaking from my past experience with Yahoo-related issues... unless you have the secret question answers (assuming they weren't changed) chances are it's probably long gone. Yahoo! accounts are notorious at being the easiest to compromise thanks to Yahoo's sub-par handling/patching of various account compromising vulnerabilities that goes around in certain 'circles'. Boo Berry
Like I said, chances are it's probably already too late. A bit of advice, I'd avoid having a Yahoo! account for e-mail and everything else. I highly suggest Gmail or Outlook over Yahoo! dead.cell 1 Share
francescob
I had a Yahoo email account, the one I actually used to register here and a few other forums, where I set the longest password available with uppercase/lowercase characters, numbers and symbols and also set similar passwords as answers to the secret questions after a couple of my friends told me their accounts were stolen and after I became even more suspicious after reading similar rumors online. Guess which account of the several I have is no longer accessible? Yep, only and exclusively the Yahoo one. DISCLAIMER: I never use the same password on different mail accounts/websites, I disable every browser plugin except for Flash that I also make sure is always up-to-date (and I also keep click-to-play enabled to make sure it's not used without my permission), I only install signed software (everything else goes straight in an isolated VM) so the chance of my computer being compromised are pretty low, but had that ever happened I would certainly have had my other accounts stolen as well (yet the Google reports and mail interface never reported connections from any other IP but mines). +BudMan MVC Posted June 20, 2013 MVC Share Posted June 20, 2013 "yes they changed it everything they are so stupid!" They are stupid?? Really - are they the ones that had their account stolen? Did you set a recovery mobile number on the account or second email address? That can not be changed so easy - you can recover with those. Did you have 2 factor auth turned on? You can not change the recovery email address unless they have access to that email account, they can not change mobile number unless they have access to the mobile number, etc. Did you have those setup? Or just some stupid security question?
