Dick Montage
I am looking at setting up a PC for emulation of some great games - no matter what the system. I downloaded a bunch of emulators, all working great, but just dunno what games I wanna play. Systems can be MAME, SNES, Genesis, whatever. Just fancy some old-school gaming :) Any suggestions? Thief000
Depends on how recent you want to go. The systems you name can be emulated on 7 or more year old PC's with the right emulators. If you fully want to be able to emulate a Wii (Doplhin) you'll need quite a bit of power. I had those systems running on an Athlon XP 2600+ with a Geforce 7800GS. spaceelf
Considering some Genesis games are available for sale on Steam/Impulse/wherever this might go into questionable territory.
Dick Montage
this might go into questionable territory Only if someone brings it up! :s Depends on how recent you want to go. Well, am thinking the "classic" era of gaming. Streetfighter, side scrollers, Turtles, top-down shooters with ridiculous power-ups.
spaceelf
Only if someone brings it up! :s Whether or not they do. Emulation is generally ignored in the case where the products are no longer for sale...equivalent to piracy when they are.
articuno1au
It's called abandonware. Also, in a lot of countries, if the item can't be bought it can be obtained by any reasonable method, Australia being one of those countries. I think so long as you are idiotic about it it's legal :)
Dick Montage
Thanks, but please, let's not get bogged down in legalities here. I never said if I do or do not own a license to any game on any platform. End of conversation and so any further will be reported as off topic purely to keep this on topic :) :)
Lingwo
Setup WinUAE and try and get AmigaOS 3.9 on it. It is fun to play around with. Plus you can install games to the virtual HDD. Some good Amiga games. Syndicate Super Skidmarks 2 Super Cars II Zeewolf 1,2 Hunter Pushover Putty Dreamweb K240 Exile Turricans Puggsy Road Rash Another World Flashback I mention Amiga because back in the day it usually had the superior version to multi-platform games. Commodore 64 Detective - Amazing game for its time. Mame Games The Simpsons Arcade Game Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Arcade Game 1,2 Strider 1,2 Metal Slug Marvel Vs Capcom Master System Alex Kidd In Miracle World Mega Drive/Genesis Earthworm Jim Mickey Mouse Castle of Illusion Aladdin The Lion King NES Duck Tales SNES Unirally Super Mario RPG Yoshi's Island Super Mario Allstars + Super Mario World Super Metroid I was a C64 and Amiga child so i can't recommend any more console games. Torolol
heh, some emulators (GPL licensed) even bundled in some airlines, I know this because it has the same emulator glitch when i play on PC, the glitch was addressed on newer version of emulator. I remember one time when i flew on Virgin Atlantic. We had SNES with 10 games. That must have been running something like snes9x as it was years ago and it kept crashing
