+Audioboxer Subscriber² Posted June 18, 2013 Subscriber² Share Posted June 18, 2013 "When you boil it down, we would love to be everywhere, but we're just starting out," Emslie explained. "It comes down to quality, not quantity. We have a fantastic relationship with Microsoft. It just boiled down to, okay, how can we hit this as hard as can and get it on as many platforms as possible and deliver the quality, the 60 hertz, out of the gate? That was the goal. "We of course would want to go further in the future with stuff, but we're just starting out. It's pretty frustrating! We want to be everywhere. We want to put Titanfall everywhere, but that's where we're at. We're starting there." ... Let's put it plainly: will PlayStation owners ever see Titanfall? "It's definitely not out of the question," Emslie replied. "We have a huge appreciation for the fans. Coming out and showing it to everybody, we're super nervous and wanted to make sure everybody loved it. We love all our fans, whatever console they support. "So yeah. We want to make everybody happy, but this is where we're at right now." LaP
It's published by EA so MS will have to pay a lot if the game is popular. Looks like the deal is for a timed exclusivity only. It will work without the cloud the same way Elder Scroll worked on the 360 without an HD (Bethesda had previoulsy said Elder Scroll was not possible without an HD). Anyone who believe all the things (read crap) a dev says about exclusivity is just fooling himself. 99% of the time the it can be resumed by that PA comic strip. http://www.penny-arcade.com/comic/2000/10/23/ soniqstylz 1 Share
GotBored
PlayStation 4 will use cloud computing also, but this game looks server based so I'm assuming you ment dedicated servers? PS4 will have those too. Look at Destiny, its a server-side MMO Shooter and its on both PS4 and XB One.
Rodrigo
Source: http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2013-06-12-will-titanfall-ever-come-to-playstation-respawn-and-ea-weigh-in So 6 months or 1 year timed? And, how will it work without da cloud?! Dumbed down? Stripped out of features? I mean, if it's really what they say about using the cloud it's obvious that it will have limitations without it, doesn't mean it's not possible, just don't expect the same if that's the case with the cloud. trooper11
Who knows what it would look like going multiplatform. It depends on how deeply the developers have built the game to take advantage of the X1 hardware. On the surface, it seems like the type of game that can be ported easily enough. I think one issue would be that for the X1, MS is offering all the server hardware for cheap, meaning EA doesn't have to build infrastructure. While we know Sony has some infrastructure, we have no idea if its as capable or large enough to host these things. We don't know what Sony's plans are regarding offering server infrastructure for such games. EA may have to service their own infrastructure. I would say that if it goes multiplatform, then it could work like Mass Effect. You may see the sequel down the line move to all platforms. Sales of this game will dictate their choices I would guess.
