PS4 Online Blocked for Countries Without a Store

User Gennosuke asked on today?s EU store post whether or not he?ll be able to play online in Romania. Fred Dutton answered apologetically.

?Unfortunately at this time gamers in countries which do not have a Store cannot access online multi-player features. However, we are considering every measure to offer PlayStation Store services to these territories as soon as possible. To clarify, the affected territories are: Bahrain, Lebanon, Romania, Oman, Slovakia, Malta, Cyprus and Iceland.?

As this is the EU-specific store, there?s likely to be other areas where this is an issue.

Seriously.

So what is worse? A few countries, or every other country besides the US? because it is my understanding a lot of the features touted like the TV stuff and NFL and all of that was US specific.

Nevermind the fact the Sony rep also says...

However, we are considering every measure to offer PlayStation Store services to these territories as soon as possible.

Nevermind the fact anyone without an internet connection cannot even play any game, SP, stores or no stores.

Yet here is another "your console sucks mine is better" thread that keep coming from both sides.

The gamers hangout forums since E3 have really hit a new all time low in my opinion, and considering I have seen it at some incredibly low points since 2003, that is saying a whole lot.

This is why i'm waiting until launch to form an opinion on which console to plug for.

We just don't know enough of the facts at the moment.

Not fully, tho.  Games with online component will not fully operate.

I would wait until GamesCom to judge how X1 will do TV, etc., in Europe.

What in the holy hell are you talking about.

This is nothing to do with Internet connections and entirely about those countries with no "store". They do have Internet and any online activation is likely to work. It's likely that Sony will continue to not use location based IP checking therefore they'll just register in a working country

Sony's region checking has always been VERY loose, it's enough to fill in a different country on the registration to completely fix any problem like this. I'd highly doubt if they would make it more strict this time around, because frankly, if people from countries without a store still find a way to the store it just means more money for Sony.

Only downside is that you can't change the region on your PSN account, probably because it'd be very hard to handle previous purchases (legally). Hope they find a way to open that up.

I'm shocked at people who are so narrow visioned that they show public MS Derp moments on here. +1 for Larry's comment

the less people get out and converse, human interaction will get worse. so many probably spend hours on said console, not much interaction skills... welcome to the new humanity Larry.

Except, the Xbox one will work there...

Why wouldn't it work?

The xbox one will not was meant for release not operating.

The xbox one will not was meant for release not operating.

And in English that means what ?

The Xbox one will work all over the world. as far as disc based games go.

In english it means exactly as I said.

This also is terribly bad English for a native speaker/writer.

This:

The xbox one will not for release.

Means something. though it's wrong

and This

The xbox one was not meant to release with this operating.

Means something, but not remotely what you said, and still doesn't mean much.

The only thing I can remotely figure you meant to say was something along the lines of.

The xbox one was not meant to release worldwide and would only work in a relatively small number of countries and launch

Of course at this point, We're not only slightly bad spelling and grammar from what you said, we're in a different dimension altogether.

So no, I really have no idea what you meant. But I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you meant what was in the last quote, and not any of the other million of possible and wrong things it could have meant.
