Xbox Live is down.

Recommended Posts

I heard on the live broadcast currrently of Windows Weekly and I googled it and it appears Xbox live and xbox.com is currently down.

This makes the case on why DRM which requires your console to phone Microsoft is a bad idea.

Then again, I wish they would have kept the DRM in place and have their servers go offline at launch. That would be been hilarious!

Works fine here in Europe.

Btw, you know the limit was 24 hours, right? so If they're back up in let's say 1 hour or less, you would have to be PRETTY unlucky to be locked out of gaming even with a check-in requirement :P

Except if you hadn't played for a few days you would be over your 24 hours.

They're not Sony (who has services down for months...). You don't have to worry about MS services being down for long.

That's probably why something like 3 or 4 years ago i was not able to play XBox Live for most of the christmas time period. They gave us a free game for that. A crap game called Undertow i think.

MS aren't the same as EA when it comes to servers.

It's fine now, and it might not have effected everyone but select groups as it was a network issue, no servers died or anything.   Besides, it was fixed quick I'd say.

That's why I said it would be pretty unlucky to hit that ex. 1 hour downtime that happends once a year.

Even if you hadn't played for a few days, the Xbox one is "always on always connected". I figure the 24 hour authentication was refreshing at least every 60 minutes even when off maybe as much as every 10 minutes. so unless you physically pulled the plug or disables the Internet. it wouldn't affect you.

I couldn't connect earlier but it was resolved pretty quickly. At least from when I tried to connect to it coming back online, that is :P

That happened ONCE. For A month. Because anon tried to hack them. ###### happens, they learned from it.

Down times like this don't happen any more on the PSN than they do on the 360.

But regardless, MS has much more experience with online-anything, obviously they'll have less issues.

A lot of people do pull the plug, they think it's a fire hazard and wastes electricity.

I only experience this with a very few 40-50 and mostly in the 60+ age groups.

not exactly the core target groups.

Those could easily be the parents of a fair piece of that target group.

Didn't realise I was being lumped into the OAP age group because I turn appliances off at the wall

I turn mine off at the wall because if I don't my bedroom is like a light show at night with all the standby LEDs.

Why would you do that though, serves no purpose.

Using less electricity serves no purpose?
