Many sources into TV

Recommended Posts

I just got a new TV, and it has all the inputs I need (4*HDMI), but it just occured to me, do I want all those cables (and the innevitable audio return) to/from the TV?

I was wondering if I can put something between that all my sources connect to then output a single HDMI to the TV and maybe an optical or phonos/RCA to my stereo?

Not looking to spend a fortune.

Thanks

Give it time!

Those switches are a a bit of a PITA tbh. Now would be the perfect time to get a budget AV receiver and starting a decent sound setup :).

Yeah something like that, it is kind of like a kvm for a television, you connect all of your audio and video devices to the receiver and it will pump out the video to your television and the audio to your stereo and you can choose the device you are viewing by the receiver. And swap between devices on that rather than the tv.

AV receiver, thats like an amp with a bunch of inputs, and an HDMI out to the TV?

This is the way to go. Virtually all receivers now have some form of hdmi switching... this also eliminates return audio because the receiver will grab it. Don't have to do anything huge with it, but also gives you the option of more central control and predictable audio levels.

Edit: Can't go wron with dennon. http://www.adorama.com/CCAVRE200.html?gclid=CJ72lvzd-rcCFUOi4AodRDUAAw is a good option and much more reliable than a standalone hdmi switch.

OK, I understand the principle, and am happy to go down that route, but that's well out of my price range for now (big month of Birthdays and so on).

Would one of these work?  I like that it has bluetooth onboard as I would most certainly use that!
