If I do make the complete jump to linux. Can I just burn the iso, set my bios to total legacy support and forget about windows and uefi for good?

You can. If I had a UEFI Secure Boot machine now, that is what I would do.

It took me a couple of tries to get Mint set up properly on UEFI for me. I do have secure boot completely disabled I believe. I'm also not dual booting though which is the tricky part. Don't use BIOS emulation mode, just disable secure boot. UEFI is light years more advanced than BIOS.

I did just that. Bye bye Windows, for good. 7 was great, but 8's GUI annoyed me to no end.

Giving elementary luna another try, I must say I'm *really* starting to like it. Its coming together very nicely, and frankly it already seems less buggy than the latest version of ubuntu/unity :p

Most gnome 3 themes come with both gtk2 and gtk3 versions (because there are still many apps that use gtk2, so without a matching gtk2 version you'd have inconsistent looking apps), so those ones can be used in gtk2 desktops like xfce.
