Any Neowinians from India? Free land for building home around India?

Recommended Posts

No such concept as the residence registration for Indians. Any Indian can live whereever they like to around the country as long as  the place they choose no one resides. No procedure or payment is required. I've seen a lot of people lived on the Parliament Square (the splendour and high political position of it is like that of China's famous Tiananmen Square) and no administrative staff or police would intervene. There are many clearings in the urban area of New Deli. If someone wants to live there, he/she can have a house build on one of them and live in.  The local law rules that if anyone who builds a house on a clearing and has been living there for 30 years or more, he/she can permanently possess the land.  Government does not have the power to demolish it. As a result, India does not have any expressways.

(I've read this just now -the original is in Chinese. Please help verify it if you are an Indian or an expert of Indian questions)

This is absolutely untrue now.

This may have been the case some 30-40 years ago when people had just learnt the art of mindless breeding. The population that time was less and most of the land was not taken.

Now every single piece of land is taken so its very difficult to live illegally at a place for 30 years.

Politicians want to regularise 30 year old slums just for a votes. Vote bank politics.

    So residence registration is inevitable?

My dad had registered this place 40 years ago. His dad registered some 60 years ago. Residence registrations have been there since a century (Even before the British left).

It's just that back then most land belonged to local municipalities or state governments and they didn't know the importance of that land and cared least when someone set up an illegal shack back in 60's and 70's.

We are not nomads who will settle on whatever land we find.

The more I read that report, the more I am finding it funny that it's beyond laughable.

PS:  India does have expressways

This one Mumbai-Pune Expressway has been there since more than a decade and allows speeds in excess of 200kmph (Illegally :shiftyninja: )

That Chinese media report is one big concocted piece of fud just to keep their gullible citizens thinking that India is still in stone age.

The last picture looks magnificent.

Would you like to show some pics of New Deli, which the Chinese report said was rather shabby, except  Taj Mahal. And the report also said the highest building in New Deli is 9-storeyed.

Google picture offers very few information about this. Here is one birdview of New Deli, which seems to offer evidence for the report:

India still has lots of issues with poverty, but their economy is growing rapidly, meaning that whilst there are still large areas of slums, there's a lot of building work going on to improve the situation.

Using the example of New Delhi, Wikipedia reports there are over 1500 high rise buildings, the 10 tallest being over 380 feet tall. (Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_tallest_buildings_in_Delhi)

Additional fun fact - the Taj Mahal isn't in New Delhi; it's actually 200km away in Agra.

Wow, what they hell are they teaching you in China?

Obviously there is going to be distortion information based on what Chinese government wants it's people to believe, but OP's excerpt seems to be someone's first hand account rather than a textbook. Either it was written decades ago when India's government was still young or is just plain distortion of facts in attempt to show China's superiority over India.

Nice pics; India is on the rise, but lets not forget that millions of Indians are condemned to living lives little better, or worse, than dogs on the street.

The OP was true...NEVER!

The Indian constitution guarantees its citizens a right to settle anywhere in the country BUT that does not mean illegal occupation of public space(s). That is just crazy talk.

The reside for XX years and space is yours was applicable for a very narrow scenario with specific conditions attached to it but I am not too aware of it to make an intelligent comment.

People always had to register their properties as far I know (my grandfather did as early as 1950s). If OP somehow is referring to corruption in the system then yeah that's their with encroachments and what not. But that's not law and no different than the rampant corruption in China.

OP's source is bull****.
