Microsoft to sell gold chrome Xbox 360 controller in August
by John Callaham

Microsoft likes to come out with different versions of its Xbox 360 controller from time to time and today is apparently one of those times. The company revealed that it will be selling a gold chrome colored controller for gamers to get their hands on sometime in August in the US.

The reveal on Xbox Wire shows off the shiny look of the special edition controller. Aside from the color, there's nothing else that's unique about the device compared to other Xbox 360 gamepads from Microsoft. It still has all of the buttons, triggers, the transforming D-pad and sticks in all of the same places. Yes, it's also wireless.

The gold chrome Xbox 360 controller is not totally unique. In 2012, a similar gold controller was sold as part of the Star Wars Xbox 360 console bundle that included a version of the console that was painted to resemble R2D2. Naturally, the gold controller was supposed to make people think about C3PO.

This new stand alone gold controller will have a price tag of $54.99. It will only be sold at GameStop stores as well as Microsoft's own retail store locations in the US.

Chavtastic.

Seriously though, isn't it just leftovers from the CP30 LE?

Re-Pul-Sive - Gold looks bad on some things; on electronics it looks horrible, cheap and tacky.

That smooth plastic also makes the controller slippery and slimy from the slightest bit of moisture from your hands.

I like the look of it. But of course, it's just me. :)

I'm sure smudges would appear pretty easily on it...
