Pebble seals exclusive retail deal, lands at Best Buy July 7th for $150

Yes, last night's rumors were true. Pebble just announced that it's sealed an exclusive retail deal to sell its iconic smartwatch at Best Buy locations nationwide. The wearable device is available online right now (source link below) and will land in stores starting July 7th for $150. Color choices include Jet Black today followed by Cherry Red in August. Pebble will continue taking pre-orders for the other colors (orange, grey and white) directly on its own website. The partnership with Best Buy also brings new retail packaging (above) to store shelves. We've sure come a long way since Pebble launched its Kickstarter campaign -- one of the most successful ever -- back in April 2012.

Huge typo $150 not $15. At $15, it'd be a steal.

Edit: thank you for fixing the title :P

Not a typo, the title just cut it. I changed it.

Stores like this are a good place to go check out items, and hold it/see it in action.

They have such a bit buzz around this watch for such a long time that i am not sure they need it really. And of course there is the money side of it, selling something via retail means less profit for you.

Outside of the buzz created by kickstarter, I don't see any hype/buzz/marketing for this product. The whole idea of 'smart' watches hasn't taken off. Personally, I don't find them appealing at all whatsoever, as I can just default to my cellphone for time, and quick glance at things (even though I wear a watch). They just offer nothing for me - it's just another yet another useless device - much like tablets for me.

Well, i dont know about marketing but there are a lot of news and articles online about it all the time. This is a buzz as well.

Maybe for you it's not that appealing but for others it may be a great thing, just like a table is very useful for me but not you.

The thing about smartwatches is I'd be willing to bet that so far only tech enthusiasts have bought them so far. It hasn't made its way into the hands of mass consumers. Apple/Google are rumored to be making smart watches, and I'd be willing to also bet their products will have WAY more traction with consumers (especially Apple), if rumors are true. Note I did write, it's not appealing for ME, which infers it's not for me, but for others.

I guess you are right, when Apple and Google will release their own watch it will probably hurt Pebble, actually may even hurt them a lot.

And i think it's actually not a rumor anymore, Apple filed for 'iWatch? trademark :D

Good move. Would be nice to tell those who were wondering about that watch on my wrist, that they can head to BB to check it out.

And since the watch first shipped to backers they've been steadily improving the watch firmware with new fixes and features. It's still not a completely mainstream product yet, but works great at the tasks I use it for - music player, notifications, and a RunKeeper remote.

So they have the inventory to send thousands to Best Buy stores across the country, but not enough to keep up with a lot of early backers, makes sense. I have been waiting for mine for just shy of 9 months.

They've peed alot of people off with this. Lots of kickstarter backers (myself included) still haven't receive theirs (they they paid for AGES ago). Yet Pebble are happy to supply Best Buy with them.

Did you guys get coloured Pebbles? I backed a black Pebble in the late hours of April 13th last year, got my "almost ready to ship" email on February 1st, a shipping confirmation email on the 21st, and it arrived on the 26th (birthday gift! lol). They did mention in today's update that the white Pebbles and some greys are going out today.
