It comes with a headset?

(*Wishes they would come with 2 controllers like the original psx did at launch*)

Yea, no extra controller in current bundles. (Controller costs $60 separately in the US)

Headset:

Its just a single earbud with mic that connects to your controller.

Be interesting to see how the PS4 is received. I think it will sell well initially due to the lower costs but after a few months the lack of features will really stand out. Very little incentive to own the PS4 over the PS3 at the moment.

Cant really call Diablo 3 an exclusive when its also coming to xbox.

I looked into it, it says PC, X360, PS3 and PS4. So not really an exclusive but people compare exclusives to the PS4 and Xbox One and its currently not planned for the Xbox One.

I'm not sure if it is just a timed exclusive like TitanFall and will be made available for the Xbox One at a later date but it looks likely considering they are making it for the X360.

I too believe it will sell very well cause of the cost, The new features Sony have discussed and shown are the improved game graphics, PS Eye which can be controller-free (No stupid Orbs), Cloud/Dedicated Servers, Gaikai Cloud which allows you to play someones else game over the internet (So you can play for them at a hard stage so they can pass it), lots of social features which I dont really care for but you can upload videos, have cross game chat and do a bunch of other stuff, AUX connection on your controller is pretty handy too, touch pad on controller, seamless gaming which basically means no more load screens,  Smart phone interaction (Also Vita but I dont own one), Instant On/Off which allows you to turn off the console mid game and when you turn it on you are exactly where you left off, remote downloads via smart phone, remote play,

Here are some of the social features:

There are quite a few new features I think, If you mean in comparison to the Xbox One which has the TV features and Kinect.
The TV features to me are virtually useless cause its only for Cable TV in the US, that plus my Samsung TV does the same for free-to-air TV here in Australia.
The Kinect on the other hand does seem better at this stage, but I hope the PS Eye will have similar features like menu swipes with hands, facial recognition for login and voice commands but Sony hasn't mentioned them as of yet. But I do like the fact they dont require the glowing orb move controllers anymore.

Lookin' Awesome.   I've said for a long time that PS4 will be my next "big" purchase (assuming my car doesn't break down or anything).. definitely stoked to get my game on.

"OddWorld: New 'n' Tasty"

How is that exclusive?  :s

In the fact that it is not available for the Xbox;

http://www.oddworld.com/games/new-n-tasty/

Unless you just ment it in derogatory terms towards the actual game itself, which is a cult classic.

Might not be your cup of tea, but it was a huge game on the PS1 and lots of people wanted this remake.

You have a very selective definition of "exclusive".

PLATFORMS: Sony PlayStation?4, Sony PlayStation?3, Sony PlayStation?Vita, Wii U, Windows, Linux, OS X

Also, where exactly did I say that it "wasn't my cup of tea".  Oh right, nowhere.

This is a news post on this website which states the exclusives:

https://www.neowin.net/news/list-of-xbox-one-and-playstation-4-exclusive-games

Look at the Xbox games which are multi-platform but in that list, same as the Sony list.

Its only exclusive to each other, so if a game is available for the PS4 and not to the Xbox One its a PS4 exclusive and vice versa.

I didnt make the rules, its the same as when people say TitanFall is an exclusive on Xbox when its also multi-platform.

I'm just following the trend.

Also above link mentions additional exclusives.

Additional Exclusives: Gran Turismo, DC Universe Online, Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn, Black Light: Retribution, Mercenary Kings, Outlast, War Thunder, Primal Carnage, Transistor and Ray's the Dead.

Also a major Swedish game retailer (CDON) has listed three games which are currently unconfirmed for the PS4 to public: These games are 'Evolve', 'Demon?s Souls 2' and 'TitanFall' for the PS4.

Its possible the retailer made a mistake, but Demon Souls is a PS exclusive and Evolve is a new IP originally developed by THQ but bought by Take Two Studios, CDON is considered a very reliable retailer.

You can actually ask Respawn Entertainment yourself about TitanFall for the PS4 here: info@respawn.com

You might be surprised at what they tell you. :)

Thanks man, I was wondering what it would look like, (hope it can still bluetooth)

Ugh that interface looks awful, the headset couldn't be cheaper if they tried, the controller is too big and the ps eye will be a waste of time much like it was on the ps3. At least it's cheaper and there are some games to look forwards to

Thanks for laying out all the facts in one place, this is very helpful. I wish someone would do the same for the X1 as I'm trying to decide which I get first. There are enough games I want to play at launch for the ps4 to make it appealing, not to mention the price.

I'm kind of shocked at the packed in headset. It looks very cheap, even cheaper than the one MS bundled with the 360. I know some were bashing the X1 for not including one, but frankly I would hate to use the ps4 headset for very long. Earbud style designs are very uncomfortable for me.

I'm also wondering why they are only supporting Bluetooth 2.1. I guess it could be cost, but are 4.0 chips that much more?

I'd like too see more of the OS UI, because that one screenshot looked too 'busy' to me. Something feels uncomfortable.

I'm sure there will be one, but there's been no Gran Turismo announced for PS4.

i'm excited to buy the PS4 b/c it's like a new toy, but personally, im just concerned about which launch title(s) i'd purchase. Watch Dogs looks great, but there are many games i'd rather have on PC than PS4.

then again, MGS5, Second Son and Killzone look awesome.

either way, im going to have to hold off until i finish my PS3 backlog.

I dont think anyone (except the devs) is going to know which one is better or equal in terms of visuals because theres a guy at work whose confident that the ps4 will destroy the xbox one on visuals because of the teraflops and GDDR5 ram which is much faster, but he hasnt got a fricking clue about how the gpu's operate and that and prolly wouldnt understand how fsaa has massive impacts on card performance. Like many he'll just see the numbers. also the MS's OS take up 3GB ram, so what games use like 3GB ram anyway, so 2GB left maybe for texture buffer but maybe thats what move units and eSRAM help to take that strain away from the memory.

MS's approach is quite different, slower gpu in terms of stream processors but has eSRAM and Move Units or something i dont know what they do but its something that isnt found in PC's so its a unique way of doing things. Also dx 11.2 has like tile based scene rendering so only the tiles that change are rendered effectively reducing the amount of gfx power needed to render it as it is not rendering the entire scene again, which is what its based around.

Also he doesnt get how a good SDK and good tools help to make a better optimized game and easier for the devs to create top notch content for the platform, seeing as MS make the directx API there SDK is going be top notch and tools will be the best because theyll need to make it as easy for the devs as possible to use the eSRAM and move unit stuff.

They'll probably end up being about the same performance wise but time will tell. BTW i havnt owned a console since the N64 cus i prefer PC's so i aint some MS fanboy but specs dont mean all that much without knowing the stuff behind it kinda like the AMD vs Intel debates. AMD's have more cores, now faster clock speeds but does that translate into more performance over Intel quad cores answer = mostly no.

I am very disappointed Sony did not include the camera in the box.

They could have lowered the price in a much better way.

$399 + 1 year of PS+ Subscription required (If you already have a PS+ subscription, you would just add 1 year to your subscription).

That way you get all the goodies for a low price and PS+ as well.

Your Welcome :)

I will make one for the Xbox One later on today if no one else beats me to it.

In regards to Bluetooth 4.0 vs 2.1, Bluetooth 4.0 is a low power design which actually makes it slower than 2.1 (10% the speed of 2.1).

It is mostly being implemented in Mobile devices to extend battery life and operates in two modes, low power or classic.

When it operates in classic mode its the same as 2.1 when its in low power it operates at 10% speed but uses less power.

Here are some more OS Interface pictures:

FLOPS (FLoating-point Operations Per Second) is an indication of how many calculations or instructions it can process per second. This is what the hardware is capable of and supercomputers are judged by their FLOPs output

(Except Supercomputers go up to and past the 33.86 petaflops range)

FSAA (Full Screen Anti-Aliasing) is a method of blending pixels at the edges of distinct colors to make the edges blur, and therefore look more natural. It creates sharp diagonal lines by "erasing" the blocky pixel edges. It takes lots of additional bandwidth and it relies on the GPU's FLOPs output. Having a high FSAA when your TFLOPs is low will negatively effect gameplay.

Timothy Lottes is referred to as the father of FXAA in video games and he personally has said the PS4 system is a better system than the Xbox One in regards to graphical performance, so this should give you an understanding of why its laughable when people say that the Xbox One is better and somehow try to relate it to the FSAA.

In regards to RAM, some PC Games have been using over 4GB of RAM since 2010 (4GB of RAM is the X64 limit for single process).

Your friend is correct in saying the higher TFLOPs card is better as its capable of more, but that doesn't mean better graphics it just means it capable of better graphics and developers need to make use of that extra power.

Microsoft have the edge in software, Sony have the edge in hardware. But software only needs an update while hardware needs to be changed for it to function better.

Hmmm.. that UI is a real turn off for me. It's just so cramped and dated.

Of course i'll wait till i can play around with it first but i don't have high hopes.

Cheers for the informative post though.
