Just to let you know, the 1.23 TFLOPS number is rumor and has never been confirmed officially.

Microsoft confirmed the GPU hardware which is the 12 CU/768 SP AMD GCN GPU, Based on standard specifications of the card that is the TFLOPs output.

Current rumors say that it has been under-clocked for the Xbox One at 750MHz which brings the TFLOPs down to 1.15 TFLOPs, but these are only rumors and Microsoft nor AMD have confirmed this to be true.

Got any sources? I've looked and and looked really not found anything specific on the GPU.

Wired.com were given an Xbox One and opened it up:

Anandtech then reviewed the hardware specifications here: Anandtech Comparison

Since we don't know the clock, which could have changed, it could be higher than the 800Mhz everyone is going with.    Also while it does share the same 12CUs and 768 shaders etc, it could be tweaked.  We do know that it's going to be using DX11.2.  The current AMD Radeon cards don't support that yet so this will the first one to do so.   To that extent some changes could be done, we know MS has the move engines and other things so who's to say how "stock" the GPU is or isn't at this point?

If you read the article, they're basing all the specifics on leaks and calling them estimates. The leaks were proven wrong for the PS4.

The tech specs for the GPU originated from here: http://www.vgleaks.com/durango-gpu-2/2/

These specs have been used throughout, and have been pretty much marked as confirmed by everyone even though the PS4's were wrong because they changed before reveal.

EDIT: It's also early February! Just saw the top.

Also, it's a custom chip, not off the shelf.

They were estimated at 800Mhz based on information given to game developers from Microsoft; like memory bandwidth for the games.

http://www.gamechup.com/has-the-xbox-one-gpu-been-downclocked-by-50mhz-to-750mhz/

But if you read the article above, current calculations make it clocked at 750MHz rather than the original 800MHz.

The Xbox One GPU is a custom built card but it shares the Radeon GCN architecture.

Here is EuroGamers explanation of how the CUs and Threads is confirmed.

"In terms of the GPU hardware, hard information was difficult to come by, but one of the engineers did let slip with a significant stat - 768 operations per clock. We know that both Xbox One and PlayStation 4 are based on Radeon GCN architecture and we also know that each compute unit is capable of 64 operations per clock. So, again through a process of extrapolation from the drip-feed of hard facts, the make-up of the One's GPU is confirmed - 12 compute units each capable of 64 ops/clock gives us the 768 total revealed by Microsoft and thus, by extension, the 1.2 teraflop graphics core."

The only estimate is clock speed, which can be accurately estimated based on information given to game developers by Microsoft like memory bandwidth plus the other specifications which have been confirmed.

But for arguments sake, lets say Microsoft gave game developers misleading information about memory bandwidth for games and all the gaming and graphics news sites calculations were wrong.. Then yes, it is possible that Xbox One has a higher clock speed for the GPU and that it TFLOPs output is higher, very unlikely but not impossible I guess.

Also where did you get this information about PS4 leaks being incorrect because they made changes before the reveal? Feel free to post sources.

Thanks a lot to the OP for doing this. I can't believe he had the time to do both lists.

I've read that WiFi Direct is in theory a better alternative to Bluetooth. Do we know what MS is using it for? Maybe the controllers use it?

Like the ps4, I see plenty of games I want to play, so its going to be a tough first choice.

On the OS front, I have to say the X1 OS shots look much more pleasing to my eyes. Again, like the ps4 shots, I'd like to see the first screen we see on boot up and navigation, but these are a start.

One thing I'm glad to see is that none of the shots for either have ads in them. MS confirmed that there would be no ads on the home page, so that's nice.

I'm happy MS went with the black background... Especially if they gonna keep the green accent...

Be cool if you can say "Xbox Lock system" and the tiles vanish off the screen, and only a wall paper would show...and your voice can only unlock it (which of course would be optional in settings )..

Graphics comparison to the PS4 don't concern me much...

Overall performance and experience are my main concerns

I like the UI also, its better than the PS4's blue UI which looks too simple and a bit childish.

The voice commands are a great addition, the Kinect in general adds some very useful features and it gets a lot of bad press but the Kinect features is probably the reason I will buy a XB One over the PS4.

Heart rate monitoring, mood detection and its implementation in games like Dead Rising 3 where sounds you make in your living room will be able to attract zombies to your whereabouts in game,  sounds like great additions to gaming.

Its also possible for AI in games to interact with you based on your mood and heart rate, or in fitness games it will measure your heart rate to more accurately calculate burned calories, etc.

Graphics don't make gameplay better, so graphics aren't too big of an issue for me.

Kinect v1 voice control on Xbox 360 is awesome...when it works. I found the xbox play/pause/stop worked accurately every time I tried. The Xbox bing <search term> however was a hit and miss. The dash navigation also worked flawlessly. I guess it can only improve over time and with better mics on Kinect v2, XB1 will be even better.

I have a feeling, a guess really, that when it's online that the voice controls can get a boost from using Bings backend like they've shown with Bing voice search on Windows Phone.    It should work better either way with the better noise filtering it has going on which means it should be able to pick up those more complex search terms like "xbox, bing movie name" better and quicker.

Does your WP8 voice control work offline? I found voice dialing refused to work once when I did not have a data connection.

I haven't tried it offline so I can't say.  I'm always connected to wifi at home or at work so I never thought about it.

I would sincerely hope that the wireless is dual band...and for a "next gen" console (see what happened to the PS3 -.-) why no wireless AC? (in 3 years time, not likely we will be streaming 4k video?)
